Real answer here. Every job in the world has an invisible lottery ticket attached to it. Even a toilet cleaner could get lucky, it's just that the chance is practically zero and even if the lottery ticket hits your winnings will be small. So toilet cleaning is a dreamless flatline job you just to do survive on a day to day basis.
Video game development has a lottery ticket attached to it that you can directly influence with several factors, one of them is making a good game. It's a job that has dreams attached to it. You are allowed to motivate yourself with delusions which make your work day sweeter because the chances to make it do actually exist or at least are in the ball park and the harder you work and the better you are the higher you can increase those chances.
That's the baseline why jobs with a lottery ticket that you can influence are usually better even if the present conditions are worse.
