oh no no no, say GOODBYE TO $60 and hello to $70 console games (still $60 on PC)
The question is on whether or not other companies will follow suit.
Gavin Price
>WE HAVE TO START CHARGING MORE BECAUSE GAMES ARE EXPENSIVE TO MAKE >ALSO WE WANT TO MAKE GAMES SHORTER BECAUSE THEY'RE EXPENSIVE TO MAKE Why not just make better games in lower resolution/higher framerate? We just want fun games. >NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aiden Anderson
>reason #42069 to pirate
Dominic Wright
corporate greed. people buy it anyway and investors demand more and more growth. and even if you don't buy shit from them. You still give them money.
>inflation >when wages have stagnated >when "standard editions" of a game are prety much half the game with the other half making up the season passes, gold/silver/delux ect editions, and microtransations/battlepasses
Parker Wood
>>when wages have stagnated Not a problem you should blame a video game company for
DLC and microtransactions have replaced the need for more expensive games. On the contrary, having your games be more expensive means that the buy-in to hook customers into your DLC and microtransactions is higher, and thus you'll get less of those.
Dominic King
Remember when people said going digital would bring lower prices? Remember when epickids said the lower storefront cut would lower prices and bring further investment into the games themselves?
Alexander Powell
>60 bucks is a lot of money
Ryder Cook
Yes
Juan Adams
This shit pisses me off more than anything. People on sites like this one bitch about how DLC and microtransactions are bad, and how awful the AAA industry is, yet 80% or more of these people will go out throw their money at them on a regular basis. Your lowest common denominator casual fucked the industry, but your so called "hardcore" demographic is just as much to blame for its sorry state.
Dominic Bailey
Games should cost 100$ or more in 2020, but only if they actually started innovating in the rate that games developed from the 90s to the 2000's - Destructible environments, open ended A.I, particle physics, experimental puzzle or platformer mechanics, huge open worlds in all formats, and no microtransactions.
Unfortunately tough, the only thing I expected fron more expensive Activision games is le epic gragix and recycled action RPG gameplay loops
Gavin Parker
Have you tried working a full time job? Maybe leave your 3rd world shit hole?
Christopher Adams
tfw videogames could cost over 100$ up here in Canada
It's not that bad though, as long as the games I buy contain at least 100 hours of enjoyable content.
$60 can feed two adults for at least a week. Stop pretending like you don't live on food stamps and unemployment.
Christopher Lopez
Considering I haven't bought a game that cost more than 10 bucks in like 6 years. I honestly don't really give a shit. Let the mongoloids subsidize my piracy.
Levi Hall
What are you talking about, poorfag? 60$ is how much my daily lunch in a french brasserie with dessert costs. What do you people even eat all wewk, gruel?
Ian James
>production costs have remained the same >monetization has increased >actual price has increased because no game is complete upon launch, there is always a more completer edition 2 years later >cutomer base has increased immensely >"sorry, have to jack it up to make up for inflation" hey cuntbrain, they can and do give away their games literally for free because the money they get from sales is not what they care about anymore.
Hudson Adams
Have you tried not-having a family? I have about 1500 merkel shekels fun bux every month, i cook my own meals and i live alone.
It's a lot of money for a mostly disposable entertainment product. Not to mention you need to spend like an additional 60+ bucks to get the full game these days. At this point you might as well just get into a "expensive" but actually rewarding hobby if you want to waste money on shit.
William Smith
They need that $10 to cover the cost of making all those extra gender options which nobody asked for
Brody Ramirez
I mean, they're already $80, plus tax, of our funny money, and that's just the base game. Once you factor in a round or two of dlc into the price, which is usually cut from the game piecemeal anyways, most games are already over $100. And all of that is assuming the game isn't doing bullshit microtransactions on top of everything else. Jesus, I'm glad I don't buy new shit.
A lot of AAA games are massively overcharging for what their offering. If companies are going to up their prices, I expect them to cut out microtransactions and paid DLC. But, of course, they fucking wont because they're run by greedy fucks and supported by retard consumers.
