There’s a serious fucking problem with this generation. There are no fucking games on any platform. The switch in particular literally has no good first party games that aren’t sequels or additions to existing franchises. What the fuck is going on this gen?

This year is sub par for Nintendo, who cares? It has been sub par all around. At least Nintendo is still trying unlike MS who haven't had an excusive since Killer Instinct seven years ago. What was the last Sony game (movies don't count)? the Patapon port? Astrobot on PSVR?
Last gen was just as bad. Big budget games are getting too big to fail.

I liked Nintendo, (N64, Gameboy, GCN) but then they started to kind of suck
All their series have taken downturns

Their games used to be worth being a loyal customer, that is no longer the case. I only play their older games now.

And what's doubly disappointing is Nintendo isn't even the best provider of ways to play those games.
The Wii Virtual Console was great. You had NES SNES N64 games, and you could play GCN games off the console.
Playing N64 games on Wii VC with the Gamecube controller was pretty good. Unfortunately, they didn't have a good wired classic controller option.
And the 3DS was set to be the portable equivalent of the Wii VC, supporting Gameboy and Gameboy Advance games with the Ambassador program.
But then fast forward, and you have NO GBA games being sold for the 3DS which is ridiculous since the hardware runs them natively. The WiiU has no wired controller solution, and takes forever to come out with VC games. And when they finally do? They're miscolored, laggy as fuck abominations. And you can't use the WiiU Gamepad as a Classic controller in Wii mode.

And now we have shitty paid Nintendo Online being the only way to play the classic games on the Switch. You can't buy them anymore, you can't transfer them from your Wii or your 3DS, and they refuse to sell their NES controllers to anyone not in the program.
With the advent of runahead emulation, Emulators downloaded off the internet play these games better than what Nintendo provides to its paying customers.

So I've hacked my switch and use it for Retroarch to play classic NES and SNES games and romhacks. I've hacked my Wii and play GCN games off an SD card. My favorite 3DS games are remakes of N64 games.

I enjoy most of Nintendo's products but I also call them out on their fucking bullshit. Nintendo Online needs to be fucking handled better, there needs to be some transparency with bigger game titles. And for the love of fuck give some love to your other IP's already.

The repeating theme with Nintendo is that their hardware is capable of much more than what they ever offer with it.
The Wii and WiiU can run GCN and Wii games off a 128GB SD card, with much better loading times. Nintendo never added support for this, hackers added this feature.

The 3DS can run GBA games natively off an SD card. Nintendo never sold any GBA games on the VC like everyone expected them to, so hackers created a way to turn your gba roms into 3DS installable games.

The Nintendo Switch is strong enough to run Runahead emulation for NES and SNES games (not to mention other old consoles). Nintendo never pioneered good emulation or ported their classic games to C so that they could easily be run on all their future consoles, so hackers made Retroarch and installed in on the Switch so you can run Super Mario World with better input lag than Nintendo officially provides, either with the Switch or with the SNES classic.

Also, Super Mario 64 is getting decompiled and ported natively to 3DS and other consoles, and hackers are adding new features to that as well.
Imagine if Nintendo had a line of classic games with new features, people would eat that shit up, but Nintendo is like "No let's make a shitty Paper Mario sequel for the fourth time in a row"

Being excited about anything Nintendo shits out today makes you pozzed beyond all reason. Everything good about them died a decade ago.
And no, I'm not saying the other companies are better, because they aren't. Microsoft's handling of Halo and the Xbox makes me want to kill myself, and I've never cared for Sony products. I'm not excited for a Halo game made to run on a 7 year old console (8 years old when it releases next year)

as a PCchad, I occasionally look down on the rabble to see what the lower beings are up to. Sonyposters are the absolute worst because they are always trying to start conflict, even with their betters. They are like that tiny, annoying dog who won't stop barking at every human, not understanding their own physical limitations. Console war threads are pointless and so are you. PC is a multiplatform that owns every game of every previous generation to yours, and will own yours as well someday. Nintendo is ok because they know they cannot compete in graphics and they don't pretend to be grownups. They choose simple and adulterated fun for all ages with some occasional adult themes. Sonyfags always look like they have something to prove. They are trying to be adults, but they are not quite. Their audience? Teenagers and young boys who want to play and pretend to be mature.
PC remains the choice of the adult man, with a simple no-nonsense policy and endless options, not just games. Oh, and best Sony era was PS1/2 era. Stop pretending, start assuming.
