I don't understand why this single phrase triggers english speakers so much. I'm ESL, but still it makes perfect sense to me. The speaker wishes he could do something about the situation, but he can't due to moral conventions/natural conditions/personal convictions. It's not like "my hands are tied" because it isn't that agressively negative nor is there a third party literally stopping the speaker from acting. "It is what it is" might work, I guess? But I can still completely understand the speaker's intent when they say "It can't be helped.", this honestly feels like native speakers just getting triggered because someone arranged words in a way they usually don't even though they are completely fine. I might be wrong tho, as I said, I'm ESL.

>Huh?
>What's wrong?
>...
>...It's nothing

people don't have a problem with it because it doesn't make sense, the problem is that the phrase isn't used in English because an English person would just say "there's nothing I can do"

>Japanese phrase sounds strange when translated
How do you think diamond dozen sounds when translated? What about doggy dog world? Fucking retard English only plebs

the literal translation would be "there's no other way/means", but I feel like people would still bitch about it

>..."*grunt*" "What's wrong?" "...It's nothing."
>I'll have to use THAT/go to THAT place...
>I won't forgive you!
>It can't be helped.
>At any rate...
>You shouldn't say such things.
>You brat!

>I'm ESL
OPINION IRRELEVANT

>Eh...
>Tch.
>Smug face

Huh?

Haha...

kakatte koi!

>I don't understand why this single phrase triggers english speakers so much
People have to find something to bitch about, and they refuse to accept that translation is almost always an imprecise art

It's more about how insanely often it comes up.

Same with fucking MEIWAKU

>I can't do it
>GUESS THERE'S NOTHING TO DO ABOUT IT THEN!
That's the issue.

I guess we'll have to use... THAT

>as expected of _____!
>don't screw with me!

WAKARIMASEN LOL

What game?

Because it's in passive form and that triggers simpletons

I said this before, but I heard that phrase in the beginning of Condemned Criminal Origins, which is a Western game.
