It's apparently even WORSE than what the "doomposters" were saying. Not only is the only the only one who collects myrrh and progresses, but you can only participate in a dungeon if you're on that section of the world map. If you ever have to leave that section of the world map, like when a year advances in game and you end up back in Tipa, you can't join your friends until you can get back to that part of the map. And the game is designed to lock off parts of the map using the miasma streams, so it could be impossible to trek back up there and rejoin your friends.
This restriction is apparently only in place in the full version of the game. Players of the Lite version can join dungeons freely regardless of where they are. But they also can't access any towns, leaving them stuck with the beginning equipment. Attempting to purchase the full game and access more of it actually places restrictions on their ability to continue playing. It's a complete clusterfuck.

Okay, you can access the first town. You can make stuff like bronze and iron equipment. But not much more than that.
You also can't downgrade to the Lite version once you've purchased the full game. I imagine some friend groups are in for a rude awakening because they all decided to buy the game instead of taking advantage of the "generous" offer provided by the Lite version.

Don’t want to get wrapped up in a twitter review shitstorm, but I can’t help to feel a little apprehensive on getting it with all the “meh” reviews coming out. You're supposed to start with the Lite version which is free to download. Then you can either purchase the full game or drop it, which most people will. The game is going to die super early and support will end way quicker than anyone wants it to. Then it'll just be FFCC single player edition. If you want FFCC single player edition, then by all means give it a try.

I feel you. I'm not suicidal but I'm sick and bedridden. I hate when games I look forward to for years turn out bad. It's even worse when everyone online shits on it even if it's for a legitimate reasons. If it's just something I randomly pick up and its crap I just lose interest and dont care. its objectively a more fun game solo anyway because of how the chalice is handled and you have free control of where you go since the moogle moves with you.
just make a roster of 8 characters at the start for every family trade, it'll take you less than 10 minutes. then you'll have access to all the family shops and you can make use of the new storage system to transfer recipes and equipment for other tribes, or the food you get from other trade families

Literally the only reason anyone wanted this was because it was a comfy fucking game but the Gameboy SP requirement was total bullshit and most people had a bunch of poorfag friends who couldn't play it.
All everyone wanted was fucking multiplayer that worked normally. That's it. Keep local, remove stupid second screen requirment (whichit never was that important) and add in online options.

It sounds childish especially since I never get excited for anything anymore but this game means so much more to me than any other piece of media. A large part of why I was looking forward to it was playing it with my brother who's in another country. If the online play is that shit then I'll just have to stick to singleplayer like how we did it on the gamecube since we never had gameboy link cables. I suppose it's only right that the online play is as lacklustre as the co-op on the GC version, I guess it really is a remaster to the fullest extent.
