What the fuck is the New World?

It's an MMO that was supposed to be a sandparky PVP MMO instead got changed to a themepark and also only has three skills on each bar that all share the same global cooldown meaning it takes the absolute worst parts of Guild Wars 2 and BDO and puts them into one singular title.

Bad game about grinding overworld PvE mobs using MOBA tier combat for spriggan keys used to enter a incredibly easy instanced 6 player boss fight for the best items in the game.

It's a strand game

Imagine seeing this downward spiral and not pulling the plug

"pvp" MMO that was changed a lot during development to lean less from hardcore player interactions to be more PVE friendly. it feels like a weird mesh of the ideas. it's cool though because this makes it feel like an old school game compared to new MMOs. it has a big openworld map that you have to walk through, limitedish fast travel options, big emphasis on crafting & gathering for character progression. it scratches an itch other games could not give me in many years but the game is flawed to it's core in a lot of ways like its weapon system and questing just being complete dog shit. amazon will wipe it from history like their other failed projects guaranteed since they're just fishing for a mega hit and leaving projects to die.

Fodder for gachagod cunnypact to bulldoze in a month

Doesn't seem to be a rust clone anymore. What the fuck happened?

But their first failed game they rolled back to beta, theyre still working on it.
They couldve just left it released and patched it slowly but they decided to admit it was fucked and unreleased it.

Sounds like they want a mega hit but they also don't want a slew of bad games to ruin their whole reputation before they find the mega hit.
I expect this to be 'decent' at launch, probably not worth $50, but when it goes on sale for $30 a month later I'll buy it.

They delayed the game by a whole year because of this. Amazon can do that because they can throw money at pretty much anything and get away with it.

I'm glad they did it, because maybe it will be a good game come release. Unfortunately this is also Amazon, so that's not likely going to happen. They're going to attempt to appeal to the widest possible audience and make something barely functioning on the levels of a mobile game where no one will like it.

dead on arrival mmo being shilled by streamers who have obviously been paid to play it
usual shit
please view my stream for a chance of a beta key wooo!

>Limited travel options
>Nonexistent death penalty
>Everyone sets spawn in the main hub city and kills themselves as a free warp
>Ends up like fast travel with extra step
Don't get why they never fixed this despite it being a large complaint during every public test.

Havent all the changes so far, and the delay, been mostly related to feedback from testers?

It's not shilled because they were paid. It's banking on the game becoming popular so you'll be the first content creator for it. And then leeching off it to grow yourself. Happens with most of these sorts of games.

do your pvp quests not fail if you do this? or is this just the option when you don't have them? I've seen people buy a house, set inn and set camp in various locations to have "fast travel".

Why do we even want an MMO any more? They are all shit.

Yep. Which is why I'm at least a little hopeful. But again, this is Amazon.

They need to, at least for a start;
>give players more skills, only three is terrible
>give animation cancelling or make animations smoother and faster
>no skills on the same GCD, it makes everything slow and boring
>put more effort into the world and quests if it's gonna be a themepark
>put more effort into skills, spells and the talent tree, it's insanely boring
And this is only really relating directly to combat.

>PvP quests
It's literally just a daily kill x players in this place/instance and weekly kill x players in this instance/gamemode for pvp currency tokens used to buy cosmetic items. Because the gear takes longer to get and is worse than the pve items.

i dunno if this is how it was in a previous beta but now they're PVE quests that just flag you for PVP during them.

>animation canceling

Please god no. ESO proved that sucks. I even kinda like that game but the light attack spam is horrid.

a 2008 mmo with no pvp

I don't get it. Amazon has infinite money. Why not use it to make something else? Why an MMO with very little exposure. Why WoW-lite in the Americas?
Bezos of all people should know about investing enough time and money into something to make it worthwhile. This is a money sink. This would've been nice given this "Brave New World" setting is severely underutilized in video games.

its 40 dollars, theres quite literally no reason to buy the deluxe edition

*gets killed by shadowlands within a couple of months*
Tough break, kid.

There are ways to do it better. The problem is they obviously just copied the worst parts of GW2 and ESO.
The combat is just way, way too slow and sluggish at the moment.

It was supposed to be like that... But was changed last minute and turned into GW2 / ESO copy.

No one understands why

Why its so hard for MMO developers to just make a RuneScape clone with better graphics and combat!?

>Why not use it to make something else?
they have already done two hero shooter-likes and both failed. now they're trying an MMO-like, but decided to play it safe in the end to make it more traditional. what i don't really understand is if they wanted a good revenue machine in an MMO why not just pick a brand to make a themepark out of like Blizzard and SE have done.

Played it for a bit.

Combat is awful. It's slow and clunky. Hate the three skills. It feels like a shit version of The Secret World, but the Secret World has the best quests (Investigations) of any RPG ever made ever and New World doesn't have that. So it's just a shitty themepark with nothing good about it.

You know those rich people who buy stupid shit and overspend on coffee? Yeah. Having money doesn't mean the person knows how to spend it.

but it has VoIP so it plays out like Rust with more RPG elements. Going into town for the dogshit mics is gold
