My disk for GTA Vice City is scratched cause my stupid cat pushed my PS2 off of the chair which I had it sitting on and the disk was in the console. Can this be fixed, or is it fucked?

As long as the scratches aren't deep you can resurface a CD, it used to be a big problem back in the early 00s with CD players, dunno if you can still buy the easy-mode machine to do it or you'll have to be very careful and hand polish it

It can be fixed by loading games from HDD, USB, or some kind of flash memory. Look up OPL and FreeMCboot


The GTA games in particular really benefit from faster load times, less than a second of loading between islands and no awful pop-in that's so late you crash

Just get an old-fashion disc buffer. Assuming the scratches aren't too deep, it will simply buff it down to a usable level.

they have disk resurfacers at good game shops. they dont charge much. not worth buying one yourself tho, they are pricey.

Rub it with some sandpaper to make a fine layer of the material then rub it using a magnet, it will create a binding an make it look just as new, you can also use toothpaste and a magnet.
