Why do fans of the older games hate it?

they don't realise that this isn't supposed to be a competitive game and that polishing bad mechanics isn't a downgrade

I don't though
I've played since PS2, I knew how OP lance and thunder-element longswords used to be
I knew what it was like before mounting and quick crafting existed
It's not the same and it's simplified in most aspects but it's still fun

Because they abandoned nintendo

it's just boomers being retarded, their only argument against mhw is that the controls aren't abhorrent and the game plays well

It went mainstream, it was just mainstream on nintendofags radar.

As far as I can tell they believed the more tedious parts of the gameplay were gatekeeping and necessary in order for the game to be enjoyed. The quality of life changes opened the game up to a larger audience and now the people who enjoyed the game because it was not popular can't use it as an example of a club they have access to and other people don't. Even to this day they begrudge how popular the game got because in their eyes this means the games will never be what they used to be again.

And to be fair they do have a point regarding some of the ways World is clearly designed to be easier and more accessible. Some of the mantles trivialize most of the game. They've quieted down now that some harder content has been released.

it's not on nintendo i can't play it while waiting on the supermarket line i have to play it when i get home but then i won't have time for the tendies mommy bought

Solo is fine but I don’t like the new lobby system. It was more fun playing with randos in 4 man rooms because it made hunting more personal. The matchmaking style of joining hunts makes it quicker to do quests but it makes them also feel a lot less meaningful in a weird way.
I also don’t like the MMO-lite raids they’re doing. It’s clear that they’re trying to steer MH into that direction but if you ask me, MH is best when it’s 1-4 goobers trying to jump a beefy monster, not doing 5 phase scripted fight that drags on for an extra 20 min

a percentage of them do

That sounds like a good way to get assblasted by fans because "it's too easy"

I love MHW. I just wish they had included the underwater combat. Shit sucked but it elevated the land combat so much for me. Stopping monsters from getting back in the water was fun. My first Gobul was solo and my first underwater fight. Barely beat it.

It's real easy. I didn't feel like I ran up against any "walls" in this one.

I hate the story, pacing, weapon designs, clutch claw and the characters.

> It was more fun playing with randos in 4 man rooms because it made hunting more personal
I always hear this, and yet MH on Switch is fucking DEAD.
These fuckin "hardcore" fans talk shit but don't even fucking play.

>MH on Switch is fucking DEAD.
No it's not. It's way more alive than 4U was at this point of its life.

then you still like the monsters nigger wich is 95% of the game. checkmate.

The event system is a pure downgrade from what was more recently used, them being limited/timed is just arbitrary
The game is getting pretty egregious with mmo-like aspects, timed events, sieges, stand behind the rock moves, and Alatreon's dps check are all things that aren't necessarily good for the game or add to it
SoS takes a lot of character and interaction out of the game, its QoL sure, but now people just search SoS for the monster they want to fight instead of finding a lobby and talking
before Iceborne temporal mantle was way too strong, rocksteady with health augment is stupid too against the monsters that don't multihit, after iceborne clutch claw is the most forced mechanic I've seen in a game, it makes the game very tedious if you care even a small amount about doing more damage.
A lot of the soul the games had isn't there, for example there's much less unga bunga art (think the monster icons and the log art) and weapons have a serious downgrade in visual design
Being able to restock on the quest makes the game much easier, instant max and ancient pots are also crazy good, if you take a farcaster with you to places you can just dip and restock if you're even in a hint of danger, because of this they made monsters lock you into arenas or just flat out disable it to make it harder
I still had a great deal of fun with the game don't get me wrong, but those are the typical reasons why to like it less over the older ones, there's lots of great things like faster gathering, less need to do gathering quests, the graphics, the removal of loading zones, and the slinger removing lots of the frustration out of trying to flash/sonic/dung a monster.

I never fucking liked it. I thought the PSP games were boring and during the free trial, this game was boring too. I seriously don't see the appeal. Guess I need to have severe autism.

I didn't say I hate the game overall.
I do also wish that there were more brand new monsters and not just these crusty old ones we've all hunted thousands of times across all the games.
It is still my least favorite MH I've played.

It basically took my "too anime" complaint about HAs in XX, swung around 180 degrees, and is shit for the exact opposite reason. I also hate that the most effective way to use my main weapon of the last 5 games (SA) is the shitty crutch claw sword blast spam.

I still find a ton of rooms for G rank any time of the day.

>Boring designs on monsters
>Prowler removed
>Armor and weapons got downgraded designwise
>Weapon tree is obnoxious, old style was better
>Monsters were made easier in the beginning making old players SLEEP before action arrived
>Handler is an ungodly abomination which can only be salvaged with the palico fursuit
>Meownster Hunter Minigame never returned
>Armor colors were desaturated and removed of their vibrant coloring
>Pink Rathian armor was given a more reddish appearance instead of its aesthetic bright pink coloring
>DLC items are seasonal or temporarily limited despite the creator of monster hunter saying that he despised temporary dlc
I won't lie though, the streamlining of certain mechanics was aight.

I find fuck loads of rooms even in low and high ranks still. Leveling my cat pls no hate.
Still play at least every weekend.

Wasn’t like that when MH4U was at its peak. I got tons of fun memories of helping people grind for that one drop they need and tackling G rank missions of those sweet, sweet crowns. I know the word “comfy” gets thrown around a lot here, but there really isn’t any other way to describe it. Kicking it while chatting in between missions and clownsuit building reminded me of how old online games bought people from all over to form small bonds, no matter how temporary they may be. I miss it, really

kys you buzzword using boomer

my only complaint about world is about shit they did in double cross /gen ult that they didnt/couldn't just do in world.

I miss the styles, the oils, the prowler, the way damage is shown(i know its trivial to care about it but I enjoy it for some reason), and lastly I wanted more monsters on release.

of course I understand why most of these weren't added, so its the only reason I still play gen ult atm instead if world.
>>if world 2 has styles i am gonna cum

i dont hate the game, but it really took out all the cool shit they had in 4u. like having 2 palicos, whos you could train with different abilities, and recruit new ones, have them go on their own missions, etc.
I liked seeing all my palicos just chillin on the beach

Also the two-manned palico tank ability will never not be the coolest shit, wish they gave you a second palico, made solo a lot more fun

I started with MH on ps2 in 2004, played nearly every entry, and Iceborne is my favorite game in the franchise.

Because fans of the older games genuinely have autism. They play the games for the meticulous detail and repetitiveness of the game. Finding and farming every single ingredient for every single item they would need. Farming monsters for every single weapon and armor set they would need for any monster. Fighting the exact same monsters over and over with slight differences.
They are autistic. Monster Hunter World gets rid of the autism-attracting details.

no soulful weapon designs
monster combat is way worse for no gain
no khezu
gacha decoration no life grinding

Because it's casual garbage that took a huge steaming shit on the glory that was once MH? The only people who like World are newfags who could never play the original games because they were too bad at it.

also forgot
FUCKING UNSKIPABLE FUCKING AWFUL CUTSCENES

I wouldn't call it hate but differences in the mechanics between the old and new world. Most of my friends who played this game say that both the old and new world are good but they want to see this new generation become better.

I don't hate it, I just want them to move on from World. Give me something new, the maps and monsters are getting stale. I don't want to fight another variant fuck strong tempered monster I've fought 1000 plus times already.

ive played freedom unite, mh3u, mh4u, mhgu, and world. i like it as a good alternative

Because the gameplay is too dark souls and not rhythm heaven. Alatreon is the exception and it's by far the best hunt in the whole game.

I've been playing since 1 and I like the more realistic feel I think they've been trying for awhile, and what I've felt since the first trailer that made me buy it

that said, there is something about it that makes it feel less soulful for lack of a better term, and it isn't any of the art or anything. Might be the newer movesets or the clutchclaw breaking my immersion idk

hopefully this will be like other monster hunters where the second iteration fixes all the problems of the last one (and introduces new ones)

Like how some play animal crossing. It's a waste of time.

Clearly you never hunted Alatreon in Tri. Now that was a fucking thrilling hunt. No AOE garbage, no korean MMORPG DPS check, just pure, MH goodness.

also to add they need to "force" the community aspect again and not let you make your own room or something, that might be another feeling missing

All the hardcore fans played XX with the english patch.

Because it's to easy, casulized, and MMOified in comparison to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gen. 4th and 5th gen are utter cancer that have done nothing but ruined the series.
