the only problem with yooka1 was they didn't have enough time to really polish it up and the characters are slightly less appealing but eventually their charm grows on you

I tried it, user, it's awful to play. The movement is slow and unresponsive, tank-like. The chameleon's tongue is tiny and can't hurt enemies - a big disappointment. It feels like a step backwards from DKC in every way.
What am I missing?

I got filtered by the last level, it was too much of a chore for me to bother after three attempts. Shits too long and not fun enough to bother learning, felt nothing like the harder lost world levels in DKC2 and 3.

I haven't played it since they added the checkpoint version though. Maybe I should go back and at least see the final boss.

Yoshi can eat enemies and the main mechanic of the game revolves around throwing the eggs you made from enemies

I beat Battletoads yesterday on a whim using 0 credits and getting 999999 points. I was furious at how pathetically easy it was. No doubt a ripoff of a ripoff of a ripoff and its """""impossible""""" lair is of no interest to me.

All you do with the tongue is pick up and shoot or carry objects. Comparing it to Yoshi and trying to say it has less mechanical depth than this shitty Playtonic game only proved you're underage.

Not calling it impossible, I didn't even give it a fair shake. I just don't find it fun the same way something like animal antics is.
I don't feel a need to prove I can play 2D platformers when I've beaten every Ghosts n Goblins game. Yooka Laylee was fun because of how creative and novel the games level design was, particularly the flipsides of each book, and that's just not really present in the lair.
