It's almost like they were made by different writers multiple decades apart.

They’re all shit.

Sounds like you should watch the Netflix series.

nigga the netflix trash is even worse than the books

The first and the second are legit great. The rest turned out bad because the publisher did't let the author take it to the path he wanted. About the fourth book the guy lost complete interest and wrote whatever shit come into his head to finish the contract.

op here, i will admit that one i read was ok
it had some werewolve story or something and it was where he got ciri via the "payment unknown" thing or whatever and ciri wasnt even born yet but the child he was to gain was ciri
that book was ok
but i tried to read a number of others and i was like NIGGA i did NOT sign up for medieval psuedo-political manifesto/monologue garbage

I don't think it even has that much psuedo-political political shit. Geralt goes on a rant about it once or twice. My real grip with it is that the series is aimless. Geralt goes a an adventure to save Ciri, build his D&D party then procedes to do nothing for four books. In the end everyone dies, Geralt with the most pointless death of all. It felt like the guy simply didn't know what to do with the story. IMO he wanted Yennefer to be the big villain and Ciri to be Geralt's fated lover. Of course that didn't fly at all with the publishers (probably wouldn't fly with the fans either).

>Final book in the series
>The first half is basically Ciri aimlessly wandering around, two sorceresses recaping the events so far and the war between Nilfgaard and the North.

I'm curious how bad it's gonna get in the Netflix show, since they crammed so much war stuff where there weren't any originally

I wouldn't bother with the show. It won't get renewed for a fourth season.

I liked the story in Witcher 2 the most, so I enjoyed the books. However Sapkowski really likes to go on detours from the main plot, so much so that in Baptism of Fire practically nothing happens to advance Geralt's quest (even though it has a lot of memorable interactions). Also tends to drop a lot of names that are hard to memorize and you get lost and confused, like can you remember fucking anyone from Stefan Skelle's mercenary squad?

It’s okay, CDPR owns the franchise. The books are now officially fanfiction.

dont read them then

>ourth
nigga it only has one so far
altered carbon S1 was fucking incredible and critically acclaimed
>be me
>netflix exec
>fire everyone associated with S1
>hire new people
>S2 turns out pure flaming trash
>cancel show entirely
netflix is fucking R E T A R D E D every way every time

In The Witcher 1, do you think Triss not telling you about Yennefer or Ciri was intended, or CDPR just didn't plan out the whole thing? Alvin is basically a stand-in for Ciri and Triss acts more like Yen than herself

The Witcher 3 is shit

They own a licence for fanfiction video games.

What are the best mods for Witcher 3

To be fair Altered Carbon was trash as soon as it diverted from the book. Netflix's team is simply bad. They do not have competent people there. Their only decent shows are third party claimed to be Netflix's Originals because they bought the rights.

It's intended. Witcher 1 follows the books much more closely (there are many, many book references in it). Because of the success of the game it went to their heads so they began to divorce it from the books. Plus some guy there became a massive Trissfag and turned her into a can-do-no-wrong mary sue .

well, yes and no
s1 stayed to the first book and changed a couple things (poe instead of hendrix because they couldnt get the rights to his likeness, for example)
but S2 literally just threw everything out the window and said "lets make a CW kids show"

I liked 3 but not Witcher 2. It had good story but I didn't like playing it.

Netflix doesn´t know how to make second seasons, the first season of The Witcher wasn´t even that good so it´s pretty obvious that s2 it´s going to be worse

All the cool Altered Carbon in s1 scenes come directly from the book (I've read it). All the bad ones are original. The hotel shooting, Miriam Bancroft's sex scene, the hospital massacre - all book. I won't lie that I didn't like Rei's addition, I did but the execution was really bad.

Witcher s01 is half fanfiction, and bad fanfiction at that. I don't understand how anyone can watch it and think it good.

It´s a shitty GOT rip off, it has violence and sex but lacks the soul and charisma of GOT first 3 seasons

plagiarism

that dumb tossing coins to witchers song literally made the show good for people

The overall story in the books is complete and total garbage, but Geralt is great. The short stories in Last Wish and Sword of Destiny are 10/10. Too bad it didn't stay an anthology and had to continue that shitty psycho Ciri Mary Sue story that went to shit after the second book.

Cahir and Regis are based, though.

Why? The books are amazing.

The Hexer TV series is pure ludo though. It has all the jank of early 00's fantasy series.

>The rest turned out bad because the publisher did't let the author take it to the path he wanted

How so? I think it was more a problem of him getting too much freedom, because most books of the saga are missing direction of any kind and are just kind of meandering and empty. I find it hard to believe any editor would greenlight that kind of pointless wankery if they had any real say in the matter.

It's not. It's just a shitty adaptation of a handful of short stories from the Last Wish and Sword of Destiny. Every single adaptation was butchered, and they also skipped the best stories, like A Little Sacrifice.

same love the games. and dont like the books
