Red Dead Redemption 2 has the most satisfying melee combat i have ever seen. i already like the way this game animates the strikes, but it also animates the movement during combat as well too. it doesn't look like your character just strikes your opponent and then runs normally, it doesn't work like that in real life.

i like how your characters puff up their muscles during fights, this subtle change in their posture adds so much aggression to the fight. it is so delightfully violent.

how come no other game has achieved this level of realism?

Because all those animations are very slow and your character moves like molasses. Rockstar’s animations feel like slow motion. I guess it’s because they want all the brainlets to go “wow animations!” but no one does everything that slowly irl.

this
Your webm shows so many model frame cuts it invalidates how much praise you're heaping on this shit. Keep working on that shilling though, A+ effort.

Lmao

gta iv fist fight look more natural because they don't have so many scripted animations tbqh

>60 and 70 year old drunken retards able to block and dodge haymakers from a 200 pound man in his prime
>muh realism

also, fights are faster in real life and not even fat people move and react as slow as they do in the game, same for the online.

>how come no other game has achieved this level of realism?
Because only utter brainlet western devs strive for realism over visual clarity. These animations are absolute dog shit when you're actually playing the game. Compared to DMC, MH or Ninja Gaiden where every animation is hand-made for the purpose of visual clarity. Congratulations on showing everything wrong with western games.

Well, for starters, others games don't have over half a second input lag on everything you do
youtube.com/watch?v=fqMqeuwxwVg

A lot of those animations are basically just mini-cutscenes and the only reason it works somewhat is because you're only dealing with quick fist fighting, even using melee weapons usually ends the fight quickly by triggering an immediate execution animation. You'll notice that in some scenarios, mainly when using the knife in RDR2, you can lock a person out of nothing anything by just quickly slashing at them, because each successful slash on their body triggers a mini-animation where they stumble back from the hit, and while that animation plays out, the controls WILL NOT RESPOND to any input unless their stance goes back to the idle animation, you can kill just about anyone that way since you're stun-locking them inside an animation forever. It might look or feel somewhat good when you play it but in reality it's clunky as shit.

This kind of thing would never work with any sort of melee weapon fighting system, swords for example, all the animations from parries to attacks would have to either:
>be all scripted and choreographed so it ends up looking like shit because the same animations will be playing over and over again
>just make the game into a proper hack-n-slash type instead
Just look at what Metal Gear Rising was supposed to be at first, same shit, "realistic" slow sword/melee combat, but then it got dropped in favor of a hack-n-slash system instead because they just couldn't get it to work properly without it being clunky and unintuitive as fuck.

Thanks for reminding me I shit posted in another MH thread calling it trash and that I need to check if anyone responded lol
btw MH is fucking garbage like every other shitty jap game stuck on 90s tech because they don't know how to innovate new gameplay and just make you mess with several layers of menus for simple things

ah yes, blocking a hatchet swing with your arm, truly a strategy as old as time

you could technically block knife slashes that way if you have thick enough clothing, but with hatches and other melee weapons, they could've at least bothered to replace the blocking animation with a dodge or side step animation instead but obviously that'd look clunky

Yeah it rules. Other games look very zippy and gamey by comparison. God bless Rockstar and god bless Euphoria

lol those strikes have no fucking impact
only thing that looked decent was the tackle
fucking cringe westoids think they know what good combat looks like

>Gob bless Rockstar

I've had sex before so I dont really care about your input lag fixation. This is not some twitch anime game.

Last of Us 2 is a much worse contender of that and its animations are actually jittery unrealistic garbage, especially the mocap

Yeah MH probably as the best, most complex, satisfying and deepest PvE action combat. Every weapon feels so different it's great.

Better than not blocking it.

oh look it's mannequin man

I just want a decent game that has fight night total punch control for hand to hand combat.

>PC 30 FPS
Uhhhhhhhhbh

>30 fps triple buffered

yeah, i get it that the animations are quite slow and the input lag is really bad. also the weapon wheel is pretty clumsy and i don't like how i need to first crapple the enemy and dismiss them before i can beat them up properly. but the aggression is so good and the form and the technique are greatly done too.

even games that try to make the melee combat good looking (like TLoU2) can't do it this well.

You don't get bullied enough on /rsgg/

A comparison video that wants to compare with the same fps and vsync settings as the xbox. I know, crazy, right?

Rockshit shill cope

He would've pushed your shit in if you didn't have that axe lmao. This is the skill of the average player who plays as a female.

Haven't played it yet, but from the webms I've seen of it, Godhand's combat looks way more satisfying than most other games I've seen.

looks awful
tlou2 already struck the perfect balance between realism and snappy gameplay

>already
That came out over a year later

>nearly half a second delay
Thats complete fucking bullshit. I played it on pc with no noticeable input lag, that is just completely fucking unplayable

That game feels pretty clunky these days, but personally, clicking buttons will never match the satisfaction of flicking the joystick to control punches. Also moving your upper body to slip your opponent's strikes and moving your guard to the the side they're attacking as opposed to clicking the block all attacks button. Imagine that system in a game that's not just a boxing/ufc sports game.

i really don't get how people are praising TLoU2 melee combat. your character takes up like half of the screen and you can't punch your enemy while they're doing a combo. the game also discourages you from using melee since your enemies will become more accurate when you run towards them and you can't even zigzag. i absolutely hated those parts where you were forced into a melee fight with a boss.

because unlike rockstar games, it doesn't feel like shit to play
