How do I get better at competitive games?
I basically only play single player games because I suck at competition, especially in teams.

You've gotta be more specific than that.

In team based games, I start to worry because I know if I fuck up it affects the whole team. Then if I actually do fuck up, I lose all interest in playing out of shame.
It's different for 1v1 games like fighting games, but I still burn out quickly.

Nobody is going to remember you or what you did by the time they get into another game. Whether you fuck up or not is completely inconsequential in the grand scheme of things and any teammates who think otherwise are massive faggots.
Also keep in mind that your only objective when playing a game should be having fun; if you sincerely don't enjoy competitive games, don't force yourself to play them or you'll end up like those guys who spend half of their day playing League and the other half talking about how much they hate it.

A lot of it is because I play team games with my irl friends.
I doubt they'd actually be upset, but they'd probably remember me as unreliable.
