Why do big gaming corporations even exist if their size results in nothing?

I’m gonna dip out of this thread after this post cus I’m currently playing
Starting to butt into a wall cus I’m stupid in the brain but I hope this game has some mind blowing shit up it’s sleeve. I’ve seen some shit like the quantum moon, the black/white hole system, the teleporters and some quantum teleporting objects but it’s not quite delivering the mind blowing shit people talk about yet.
It’s good tho
If those didn't 'blow your mind' then the rest of the game won't either. There are more nice things like those you mentioned though.
I'd say this game focuses more on gameplay / exploration, which so called AAA don't really do that much anymore.
Most AAA games also don't take a lot of risks and produce similar games that ensure sales.
At the moment I play more indie games than actual AAA titles. Most of them are just more fun because they are not generic.
After the AAA “open world” craze that was the last gen, I suspect the next big mechanic to be everywhere are time-loops/roguelites.
Bethesda and Sony are already on it
Ok I’m back and thankfully not spoiled yet
I shouldn’t short sell it, all these things were cool I’m just waiting for some grand puzzle to click that makes me realize I can use these mechanics in some crazy way.
When I left off I was tryna figure out how to get into that jellyfish encased in ice on giants deep so I can get down to the drone control module. It feels like I should melt the ice but seems like there’s no way to do that.
I don't think the game is all that mind-blowing. A lot of people, who I suspect have never played another adventure game in their lives, overhype it. But it's a good game.
Yeah same here. The black hole stuff was terrifying/interesting, but that's about it. I've explored everywhere I can think of at this point, my logbook has no obvious missing pieces, and I don't know where else to go. I haven't actually been to the quantum moon yet, but I remember reading about something to do with a north pole. But, I'm not that into it that I really care to keep playing.
As an adventure game fab I agree. This game is honestly better to talk about than to actually play
It's really sad to see this because if these devs got the budget of a AAA company, they could make some seriously good shit.
Outer wilds is seriously good shit. Why do you think they need a bigger budget?
>Why do big gaming corporations even exist if their size results in nothing?
They make broadly palatable games, unlike Outer Wilds. Indies are for these kinds of games that wouldn't exist if everything had to be broadly palatable. Like, the groundhog day thing is something that hard filters a lot of people and so wouldn't make it into a big studio game, but the experience couldn't exist without it.
I dropped it less than an hour in from atrocious flight controls. If flying wasn't so dogshit, I'd probably invest the time into trying it again
>atrocious flight controls
play it with controller retard
>Best open world game of the decade
It's the best open world game ever made
Well, it might take less than nine years that way.
PC games shouldn't need controllers.
I played for about an hour but I couldn't get a grasp of the flight controls. That and I also fell into a black hole and shit my pants when I was stranded in the middle of nowhere.
I played m+k and the flight controls outside the tutorial part were fine.
buy a controller pc baby, if everything had to be perfectly adapted to PC we wouldn't have a bunch of game genre's
Yeah, they're a bit clunky, but you can do everything you need to do with them with just one exception:
You can't slow-burn to sneak past the anglerfish, so you have way less room for error on that part
Even that could have been fixed by just having a "walk" key to fire thrusters at lowest power only.
It's because it's small that it's better. Less bloat, more condensed charming levels.
Don't forget to stop and eat a cronchy marshmellow along the way user.
I like it but is not that great either, loved the concept.
Not that user but I cannot make my 360 controller s to work.
The game is played best with a mouse for sure
I had no problem with keyboard and mouse flight controls
I played with my keyboard just nice, even landed on the sun, I dont see the issue frankly.
>3 dudes and like U$50k
Have you never played anything other than an fps, babby?
I would like this game more if it let you figure stuff out on your own more.
all the expository dialog kinda takes away from the mystery.
I am still unable to do the cactus gauntlet on ashen twin. Even with plenty of advice from others, I cannot see how it is even possible. You need to use the burst thrusters to get in the air, but after that there's no way to maintain a consistent altitude to avoid the cacti on the floor and ceiling, WHILE executing a wide turn the entire way. And it takes like 10 minutes to even be able to retry it. Do you need a controller?
Could probably go in early when there's still lots of sand. I dunno though, I did it on controller after giving up with the shit keyboard & mouse controls.
You're supposed to do it when there's sand.
