I will now be in the thread
I would enjoy for someone smarter than me to read what I'm trying to say here and then put it back to me in a way that makes sense. What I want to try and say is that (noticeable especially on TV Tropes) there is this really bizarre NEED that some people have to make up a severity about a character and then act as if it's true. Usually you see it under 'Berserk Button'. It might list some time a character shouted or something, but the person will have wrote 'you do NOT want to do X to character. Just DON'T. He will FUCK. YOU. UP.'. You feel this uncomfortable sense that the person really needs to believe this exaggeration is true. In the case of OP's image its just the same, some guy needs to believe that Super Mario World isn't light and silly but actually dark and sinister. I don't get a feeling from it that it's to impress other people, it has a much sadder and more confusing air that the person himself is tormented by needing Super Mario World to in fact be dark and sinister, which to some degree he's tried to bring to life by editing TV Tropes about it. There's probably an explanation for all this which is what I want someone to explain to me. Just saying they're autistic doesn't actually explain it.
overactive imagination?
More than what it's try to say, what makes me is the way it's written. No one talks like that in real life for fucks sake. Just say "Bowser enslaves an entire race of yoshis and I think that's fucked up", done.
>Mainline only is canon
I mean, yeah, it can serve as coherent if you consi--
>Spinoffs and/or RPG's are canon
As I was saying, that's completely stupid to even attempt to do when each game just does its own thing the way it wants.
*More than what it's trying to say, what makes me mad is the way it's written.
I had a minor stroke there.
Yeah, I feel the same. It would be just a dumb opinion otherwise but the way they write it always makes it feel extra cringe.
>Push pause at the right time, and there is a screen full of clown face
BOO
I could understand a little kid getting freaked out by the the clown car flying at the screen, especially back in 1992 when Mode 7 effects were still new. If you're an adult and that scares you, then you've got a problem.
TV Tropes thinks Lots-o Huggin' Bear from Toy Story 3 is worse than Hitler.
It's a pretty shitty website.
i read all of these in a linkara-style voice
it did freak me out back then but it's obviously ridiculous now
It's slightly scary if you confuse the red dots for eyes.
Wait what?
>tvtropes
No... say it ain't so
the first time I fight SMW Bowser I trough it looked like shit and a bad downgrade from SMB3 Bowser
like for real even the princess is ugly
I'd say that would be pretty weak shit if it scared a child, but I'd turn the game system off any time I got a game over in DKC because the game over screen freaked me out.
WHAT THE FUCK HOW DID THEY GET AWAY WITH THAT
Why isn't there anyone to filter this low effort shit out?
>HoYay
>Analysis
>YMMV
>Headscratchers
For fucks sake.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Honestly, I think they might have a point. I mean, Hitler never reprogrammed Buzz Lightyear.
Because you live in an era where everyone is convinced they have a right to have a terrible opinion.
this shit is killing me
post more
>literally worse than Hitler
Holy kek.
reminder that youtube is full of videos of autistic kids and grown men talking to the pbs kids logo
Wait what?
wtf bros
youtube.com
Hitler would never go so far.
lmao yes
there's this group of autists i've been fascinated with for years who are absolutely obsessed with production logos. i bet most of them use tvtropes as well.
Oh fucking hell thanks for reminding me about the Logo autists
There are fucking dozens of videos just like these and I have zero clue why

If I had to pull something out my ass right now I would say that it's obsessive young people with a narrow view of media in general without a point of comparison.
If all I played were Nintendo games, I would think Yoshi getting bonked in the head or whatever is horrifying too.
I've never really gotten a "they need it to be true" vibe from it; it's always struck me more as a "when in Rome" situation where phrasing things with AS MUCH. IMPORT. AND EMPHASIS. AS. POSSIBLE. is somehow the default setting. I'm reminded of a video that Chip and Ironicus once Restupurae'd, talking about sad moments in vidya. The video's #1 spot went to the entirety of MGS4, but the guy couldn't just say "All of it." No, it had to be "ALL... OF... IT." How that all started, I couldn't tell you. One does suspect the 'tism to play a role, as dissatisfying an answer as it may be.
You mean like this? www.freakylogo.fandom.com
These people are literally autistic. I'm not saying it to insult them; I've grown out of using autism as an insult.
Being obsessed with things like logos is a textbook symptom of autism. What's depressing is that a lot of the people who make these videos or post stuff on wikis like these are grown-ass adults. It really makes me sad.
Why the fuck are these so satisfying to watch?
fucking kek, from the picture I thought the green stripes behind him were his arms, ala t-pose
yeah i think they're part of it. a lot of them seem to be undiagnosed boomers spergs. they think the screen gems logo is terrifying.
youtu.be
I get what you mean man, totally see it.
>are grown-ass adults
What fairy world do you live in where pathological illnesses are cured upon adulthood?
To be fair, Screen Gems mostly does horror films, so they could be scared just from the association.
It's just kids that like the site and want to contribute, but have absolutely no content worth adding so they have to shoehorn in the things they're aware of.
VID's logo is pretty spooky though
