Even though I like V3's ending better, 1's ending is objectively the best in the series.
Also, UDG's ending was shit and just setup for a shitty anime so who gives a shit about it?

I like both the first and second game but I feel like the second has some stupid flaws that make it hard for to forgive.

Like the whole junko ai wanting to replace everyone with her was just stupid. the junko ai in itself was retarded and I was willing to allow it but I have never cared for junko since she is a complete shitter who literally has no real motive other than DesPAiR!!!

Junko as the main villain in the first game is fine but fuck just let it go already she was a one trick pony. just as a student can aspire to be the ultimate hope there should be other potential students to be the ultimate despair. I thought that was what mikan was supposed to be in the second game but turns out she was just some tramp.

also here were my dumb misconceptions about the game before playing them

I thought for years that mahiru was a literal tranny because some user kept spouting that on here so I avoided her only to find out she is literally the perfect waifu who dies way too early for a stupid reason. Also I thought for sure sonia was the traitor and was going to turn out to be a robot, i mean her name sounds so fake and so does her country literally thought they would pull a Robonia.

also I hated mechamaru. DR2s greatest sin is that it has such a great caste that got to waste. The only two that had a meaningful death were the first case and sort of the last case.

also gundham is a saint

The biggest problem with DR2s ending is that the survivors are boring as fuck with the exception of Fuyuhiko

I honestly believe that it was intended that way because they along with the survivors will be in an all stars game. they have a lot of potential which would make them kino as fuck for that.

I think they killed off the good characters (Nagito, Gundham, Mahiru) because they wanted the impact of all the D1 characters coming back at the end to have more weight. In the last hour of the game, Hajime and the D1 characters do almost all of the talking, Sonia, Akane etc are basically just wallpaper at that point

the whole reason they are even doing the killing game is because the world is fucked but not everyone has given up hope. people have even tried to save them while the killing game was being broadcasted but failed. This was never about revenge on junkos peers she was just using them as a tool to further her greater goal of making everyone upset.

people like to throw around “bad writing” when the series is discussed but 90% of those people have no idea what they are talking about. Sometimes i dont even know if people played the game, just listened to some badly explained spoiler and use it in every discussion. The fact that people still think DR1-2 being in the same universe as V3 and how it somehow ruins those 2 games prove my point
