Because it was the first game in the SCIAdv series and thus the weakest. Even Chaos;child had a bad adaptation. If it doesn't already have broad appeal, they don't know how to adapt it properly. Granted the only part of Chaos;Child worth telling is the common route. That shit was so good.

Though I liked steins gate, it was because SERN turned out to be a genuine threat not even time travel could stop. Okabe learning to live with his decisions and cut the losses that he caused to himself was good character development, especially in the Faris, Luka and Mayuri endings
