It's an old human legend, basically it's a "thing" that's inside your body that represents the core of your beings, it generally carries the idea of being immortal in some way, unlike the body itself.
The game was made with passion and care.
Soul means buzzword. Soulless, on the other hand, means buzzword. If you use either, you're a genuine faggot.
integrity
It means putting passion over profit but faggots like have corrupted it into meaning MY CHILDHOOD = GOOD, NOT MY CHILDHOOD = BAD

Essentially, it looks like the people responsible gave a shit. It's the little touches that make it clear that whoever made this wasn't just doing it to get paid. They actually cared and wanted it to be as good as they could possibly make it.
>defining a buzzword with more buzzwords
Fucking brilliant.
shit graphics, clunky gameplay, preferably something from 30 years ago unplayable now.
Soul = made by whites or honorary whites (japs)
Soulless = made by poojeet and chang and women

Games with soul were made by people that put their heart and SOUL into them.
Soulless games are made by employees whose employers sucked the soul out of them.

It's nostalgia.
Here's a quotation from Edge magazine, October 1996:
>It’s also hard to deny that the series has exchanged a little of its charm for 3D slickness. FFVII’s starkly vivid rendering and genuine orchestral score present a harder realistic edge that’s a far cry from the endearingly blocky sprites and chip-generated music of the SNES. Previous games had also utilised the illustrative talents of anime artist Yoshitaka Amano, but his flamboyant portraits weren’t considered appropriate for the necessary simplicity of current polygon-based characters.
Wow, that's a pretty good opinion for the times
Passion. That's it.
attention to detail and charming aesthetics despite hardware limitations.
It means no crunch. No one wants a crunch game.
Soul = thing I like
Soulless = thing I don't like
