It "performed strongly" according to the official sales report. My guess is that it actually just met expectations since Sonic still sells pretty well regardless of actual quality.

Daily reminder that Sonic '06 was a "Platinum Hit" for the 360, which requires a decent amount of units to be sold in the first nine months. This is ultimately why you'll never get another truly good Sonic game; if the worst mainline entry in the series still manages sells well despite everything, then they have absolutely no incentive to try anymore after that. All Sonic '06 did was raise the overall quality bar up a single notch, which the previous notch being "absolute dogshit." You'll get """passable""" Sonic games, but nothing actually good.

I'm sorry Sonic bros. But it's been over for almost two decades now. Even if this wasn't clearly a fake rumor, Sonic Forces 2 shouldn't even phase you at this point.

The good news is that fans have been picking up the slack more and more lately so at least we'll get a few good 3D Sonic games before we die. And Sega isn't autismal about fangames like Nintendo is, so it could be worse. Gotta take what you can get lads. Sonic Team sure as hell isn't going to give you what you want anytime soon, whether you're an autistic storyfag or "muh physics" fag. Better to write them off completely like I did years ago. You'll live longer.

If this is real, it’s probably referring to the mobile game Sonic Forces Speed Battle, which is now just called Sonic Forces. It seems Sega wants to forget about the actual Forces so I seriously doubt they’d greenlight a sequel for it.

Sonic Forces was just mediocre overall. If they actually do what they did and did it well I wouldn't mind.
But maybe I just want to see Whisper and Tangle in a video game.

They had to drop the price to a budget title before launch and packed it in with Puyo Puyo tetris like 2 months after launch. No fucking way it hit whatever targets they had in pre-production.
