Unironic question

What went so fucking right?
Seriously, why the hell is it selling so much?

no competition
phones suck for gaming because they have no buttons, and sony gave up on handhelds

-It's a hybrid console/handheld that's good at doing both.
-A lot of exclusive games, either Wii U ports that nobody played the first time around, or entirely new titles.
-Small physical cartridges instead of Blu-ray disks, improving travel convenience.
-Great pro controller.

switch gives people what they want

you wanna play nintendo games on a big screen tv? switch gives it to you
do you wanna take your switch with you and play anywhere? switch gives it to you
do you want waggle? switch gives it to you
do you want buttons? switch gives it to you

accessibility
handheld is a major plus never docked it myself

It’s basically what the Wii U should have been.

Anyone played the Ring Fit game here? How effective is the exercise for burning fat? I'm actually planning to buy switch just for that because I'm bored doing cardio.

It feels like Nintendo naturally goes through cycles of being cool and uncool in the public consciousness.
Curious to see if they can keep up this level of success.

Bump

WHY THE FUCK IS EVERY GAME SIXTY US DOLLARS

Attached: images.jpg (223x226, 4.73K)

I want good hardware and games, 2020 so far has been pretty shit for the Switch.

nothing

>only great games are odyssey and botw
>80% of the library is wii u ports
>the rest is 560p ps4 ports, full price or indieshit that costs more than pc
>now its also normie central thanks to animal crossing
>paid online that is still shit
>baffling voice chat system
>absurd e-shop format full of shovelware, need dekudeals to know what the fuck is on sale when
>flimsy cheaply made, feels like it will break at any moment, joycon drift
>mandatory 70$ pro controller with trash d-pad, 8bitDo made a cheaper an better one
>no virtual console what so ever
>no cloud saves unless you pay for online
>killed the handheld market and still cannot deliver games at a steady pace
>zero consumer communication
>dare to criticize it and get inundated by a lava of angsty fanboys

I bought one at launch and I never touched it since 2017, the reality is that nintendo is far too gone at this point, with iwata and reggie gone both their communication and software delivery got hamstrung, I do not trust babyface new president or bowser, they seem more preoccupied building parks and shit, don't like this company anymore, they are not who I grew up with.

The gimmick isn't retarded this time.

This but there are a few more good to great games. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was great, Ring Fit is fun, but yeah there's barely any games. Haven't used my Switch in months and barely used it at all this year, Animal Crossing was shit. 2017 was great and then it just became mediocre.

Switch has no soul
>ports ports ports
>worst miku game in history (port of the PS4 game btw)
>no mii games
>no play coins
>no themes
>no activity log
>NO THEMES
I still carry my 3DS to collect play coins

It's an addition to a workout, not a substitution. Body weight exercises mostly.

Crazy how the 3DS was peak soul and then the Switch is probably the most soulless Nintendo console

>80% of the library is wii u ports
Nobody bought the Wii U so I'm enjoying it

consoom and get excited for next product to consoom more

The Switch is the successor to both the 3DS and the Wii U, which combined sold 88 million units. It's Nintendo's new handheld and their new console. As a result, it's gotten the major 3D Mario and Zelda titles, which would normally not be portable, as well as Pokémon games, which would normally not be playable on your TV. The Switch is powerful enough to feel like a true hybrid, not like a handheld that plugs into your TV. Credit must also be given to marketing and design. It's an attractive machine, more attractive than the Wii U's chunky, fingerprint-magnet gamepad, and the name "Switch" communicates the device's purpose better than "Wii U" did. So basically it's selling so much because it's a well-conceived device with strong software that's targeting a market that was previously split.

I just finished DQXI, recommend me the next game to buy.

I dunno. It's worse than the Wii U in most respects, had a terrible game library initially, and has been mostly getting Wii U ports. Maybe Nintendo was right that the problem was just the name. I thought they were making excuses.

Dont listen to Your diet is the most important thing for losing weight. The most important thing for exercising is not stopping. If you think the game looks interesting and will help keep you exercising, or even get you started exercising, then you should get it.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2

yeah it's a nice package but the library seems to be drying up

He's right though, Ring Fit is just an addition to a workout, not a proper workout.

>It's only Wii U ports.
This would be valid if the Wii U wasn't one of the worst selling consoles. Look at the numbers between Mario Kart 8 and Deluxe and it's pretty much the reason they're doing ports. Half of all Pokemon games, every Animal Crossing and the top 8 Switch games have all outsold the Wii U.

whats a proper workout, user?

Thanks for the input, I guess I'll give Ring Fit a shot. Probably gonna try do some cardio maybe before playing it and see how it goes.

A set of exercises that properly strains all muscles. Please hit the gym, you sound really fucking silly when even suggesting that Ring Fit is a proper workout.

Nintendo will have announcements for this holiday. No holiday in recent history has passed without Nintendo releasing a game with "Pokémon" in the title, usually accompanied by a game or two that say "Mario," "Smash," or "Zelda." Last year it was Pokémon and Zelda; before that it was Smash and Pokémon; 2017 had Mario and Pokémon; in 2016 it was Mario and Pokémon again. I know this year has been rough, but they'll have something, even if it's remakes. As far as future exclusives go, there's Metroid Prime 4, Shin Megami Tensei V, Breath of the Wild 2, Rune Factory 5, and Bayonetta 3.

I think he's suggesting you can lose weight playing it. All the person was asking about was "burning fat."

fpbp
not that the switch isn't a pretty good gimmick to work on, but it's literally UNCONTESTED in handheld gaming because phone games are a joke, so even though all its best games are nowhere to be found you don't have another option besides "waifu gacha moneysink #1607" and "[franchise] tapathon moneysink #9073"

Nintendo tricked people into buying a handheld under the guise of it being a proper console.

post body dipshit

Who the fuck refers to cardio as workout?
You first faggot

Versatility and they let pretty much anyone port their game onto it.

having an unpatched switch is best feel

>no u
the fact you cant recognize cardio and simple body weight exercises as a fine routine for someone primarily interested in general health and weight loss is a pretty solid hint that youre some Zig Forums newfag on week 5 of stronglifts that thinks he has the answer to everything, and that answer is progressive overload with compound lifts

The body weight exercises don't even cover half of the whole body. Also,
>Asking for body but not posting your own
What are you afraid of, faggot?

Why do some games perform significantly worse on tablet mode, is it because they limit performance to make the battery life usable?
