We've had this thread a million times, Bioshock 4 is in early development.

Will it be as bad as bioshock infinite though? The only good thing about that game is the elizabeth porn it spawned.

Infinite just didn't live up to its trailers and marketing. I remember the Heavy Hitters teasers showing off how the Sirens would resurrect enemies, Boys Of Silence were alarms, etc but in game the Siren is a spongy boss fight, BoS are a one-area gimmick. Development hell did a number on it.

I remember trailers with sweet sweet voice of Garrett
In release he was voiced by some california faggot thats in every game.

The game overall felt like a bunch of half-realized ideas put together in a haphazard manner. The plot itself was written that way too. Making the gameplay and areas even more linear than Bioshock was a bad move too. If you're going to sell your game with how great the imaginative environments are, then the levels should also be proper environments instead of railroaded hallways.

>no ken levine

>Jumping through so many contrived reality loops that everything becomes meaningless
>Mechanic/narrative plot holes or weakness. Vigors are vestigial plasmids. Comstock's inconsistent grip on the population
>Completely unsympathetic "rebel" faction. The vox where literal niggers trashing something better then they'd ever be
After that Elizabeth just ain't gel with everyone. Some people wanted another daughter who implicitly was down to get bred by big daddy dick
I don't have any meme reasons

I thought it was pretty good, but I also went in with no expectations

Disappointment? If anything, it was the greatest surprise success of its year! The original game, now THAT was disappointing; and after it, I wasn't expecting anything from Infinite, I thought it would just be another dumbed down, half-assed FPS-RPG like the original was, overly easy with politics nobody can relate to.

It blew me away how much Infinite improved everything about the original Bioshock! Combat was suddenly fun as fuck, there was finally some actual level design, all the stupid systems that bogged down the original got removed, hacking was elegantly revamped, the world was much better, the characters were actually interesting (Booker is my favorite FPS protag ever) and the story resonated with politics in the actual, real world (it's crazy how many parallels there are between this game and America today)! How anybody can be disappointed by it, I don't know; to this day, it's by far my favorite video game of all-time!

Well Ken's off to make something completely new that's never been done before, that takes years of pre-production. I say the gameplay has already been perfected by Infinite, keep your expectations of the narrative in check and you should have a good time with this new one.

The trailers were great, people honestly expected them to be typical of the game itself. It wasn't like Watch Dogs where they cheated on the graphics, they changed the whole tone inbetween trailers and release.
In addition it only really started feeling like a Bioshock game in the two DLCs rather than a standard on-rails shooter.

back to Zig Forums

All the design decisions eventually were for the best, good games take time to develop.

I dunno', according to your (incorrect) definition, """on-rails""" shooters are better than whatever Bioshock was before, then.

I honestly prefer Infinite to whatever the fuck the other two games were trying to be.

My thoughts exactly. I don't know why anybody would choose the other two, cumbersome, overdesigned, slow-ass games.

You know damn well that he's right.

If there is going to be a Bioshock 4, I sure hope it plays more like Infinite than the other games.

I preferred the more linear approach of Infinite, the original just made for boring environments for the combat.

cringe

Yeah, it's a lot more fun when the designers know where you will come into a room from so they can place the enemies for maximum enjoyment.

Well, Columbia is a lot more fun and interesting than Rapture in general, so that helps, too.

why do you hate fun fastpaced gameplay user

I liked it the best of the three, don't know what you are on

because if i wanted to play call of duty I'd play call of duty , not Bioshock.

100% as long as its better than Bioshock 2 im game

I like the idea of "Call of Duty" but with actual literary value. The horror vibe of the original just didn't work.

"Call of Duty gameplay but it actually enriches your soul" sounds like a winning combination to me

Yeah, switching up the shootan was the best thing the series ever did.

>going into the world where Booker already died as a martyr and finding your own Voxophone
I will never forget this game as long as I live

He didnt make Bioshock 2

The failure you feel when the Songbird snatches away Elizabeth is like nothing is ever saw in any other game

And seeing what happens should you faill to rescue her was outright chilling.

>Will it be as bad as bioshock infinite though?
of course because its only a matter of time before 2k figures out how to monetize it into some moba battle royale shooty looty drivel complete with a cash shop.
