Yep, Postal 4 completely lacks the edge of the original games, which were straight up creepy at times, in some ways they're some of the darkest games of all time. Postal 4 feels like a Saints Row 2 version of the series. Everything is way too whacky to take seriously, nobody suffers properly when you hurt them, it's just a pile of shit. I like the game but the missions rely too much on gimmick shit.
Postal 2 and even Paradise Lost consisted of this formula:
Do something mundane > end up having a shootout with people. Rinse and repeat. You had a mission here and there that may be a bit different but most were just shooting people in the face, and that worked really well.

Postal 4's monday:
-Ask for a job
-Shoot prisioners in the face
-Collect 10 animals
-Put out a fire
-Spend 30 minutes in the sewers doing boring shit like changing lightbulbs with no pay off whatsoever

Postal 2's monday:
-Get milk and shoot talibans in the face
-Get a paycheck and shoot protestors in the face
-Go to the bank and shoot cops in the face

They're putting wacky ideas in the game for the sake of 'le wacky' and not wether they're fun or not.

Missions aside, the rest of the game seems decent so far. Hopefully they somehow make the missions less shit in the final product

Paradise Lost was great and it barely had any political/offensive shit at all, outside of the inclusion of that Milo guy who is literally just there.

The most offensive shit in that game was Tim Schafer being ripped a new asshole.

They don't really get wounded, they just go straight from healthy and normal with a few bullet decals in them to completely dead on the floor, like a game from fuckin' 20 years ago. It's a joke. I think the tazer can stun them on the ground but you have to jump through hoops to get it in 4 and it's still not as satisfying as it was in 2, where you could use it as a stun lock device to fuckin' torture people as long as you wanted. The screaming and begging is completely toned down too, and they also toned down the crying in the remake of Postal 1, so no it's not going to come back later on. Period. They barely even scream in the remake, and since the original's sound design was completely based off that it means every level is just nothing but silence and the rattling of your machine gun, with maybe one sound bite every 30 seconds or so.
