Iwata was the only person keeping the dev team working. He's been dead for years and the moment he went is the moment the Game Freak Pokemon games took at sharp decline in quality.
They never had any talent. They couldn't shit out a good Pokemon game and they had 4 years to do it.

how many of those employees are directly involved with game development? Pretty sure with Pokemon being the largest franchise in the world, quite a few of those employees are in other functions like marketing or other media.
Is the point of OP that they should hire more people, or that they should have the same quality games as other devs? I guess the first question would be the answer to the second.

ArcSys, Platinum, & Inti Creates all work on several projects at once as well. Game Freak was split in two for SwSh & Town and not only was SwSh low on content as a result, Town is just a plain awful game.

I'm still baffled by the existence of Town. No one asked for it, it wasn't catering to the masses as some hot new thing, they got Toby Fox for it for some reason. It wasn't in demand and there was no reason for it, but they still did it.

They're not going to develop Pokemon of the Wild in 2-ish years. They don't have time for that.
Paying them 100 times more won't magically make them able to pump out the "BIG, HUEG GAME" everyone wants them to do.

each of those 143 employees earns probably earns 1 million dollars every year. If they expanded, each person would be earning half as much. We can't have that now can we? They would literally be starving in the streets.
It's best if they continue to reuse assets from 1999 for their 2020 games. After all, sales are even higher than before.
