Just took something other people developed and put it in a video game console. That's fine. It was his job to do that but it doesn't make him a genius or a hero or anything. No it wasn't? Floppy drives persisted until the late 90's. When it DID start becoming the standard, it coincided with the release of the PS1. This was a period where Nintendo still thought cartridges was a better idea (N64).
