I generally only pirate if the game has become outrageously difficult to play through legitimate means
I'll gladly pay up for a lot of stuff but like, I'll be damned if I'm going to pay over 100 dollars for a loose copy of Chibi Robo when I can just download the rom and play it on my WiiU without even having to emulate it

Often. Most games don't have demos. There's no more reliable way to know if a game is going to be worth your money than by playing it. Without a demo I'm not left with much choice as someone who values my money.

I only buy games when they're on sale.

Same here, except I pirate the games just to see if they run on my computer well.

yeah I do the same, last games I pirated were the Super Robot Wars game on steam because I ain't getting a VPN just to buy a game
