Where did it all go wrong?
Sebastian Carter
Ryder Butler
When it gave us a completely different story than TPS and tales teased at the end and made no reference to it at all in the game
Josiah Ramirez
The game was decent but the story is trash and Ava was the cherry on top.
Liam Johnson
Pretty much the story
Robert Phillips
Someone how having worse writing than Borderlands 2.
Hudson Taylor
>Hire the dude who wrote Borderlands 1, which barely had a story, to actually write a story.
>This faggot somehow is JEALOUS that he isn't Anthony Burch. Turns out, we were wrong that Burch was the sole problem and not actually one of the trash that made the game atleast decent story wise
>Dude is mad that 'The Destroyer' he made isn't the most powerful thing, so the dude retcons that it is the single biggest and scariest and most important thing and The Warrior, The Traveler and so on were fucking SHIT compared to 'The Destroyer'
>Along with that, write characters that could have been good... but just suck because there is no arc to them. You tease Troy betraying his sister, but don't do it and have her laugh it off and become the fugly final boss.
>Write Ava that starts strong but then becomes worst and worst and basically see that she was basically created to kill off a fanfavorite character
>Have the characters do NOTHING for the longest time. Brick and Mordecai are now Gay Dads for Tiny Tina as they go around being mercenaries... And don't do ANYTHING to help the Vault Hunters or join the ship. Only 2 out of 6 Vault Hunters from the second game are around at the start despite knowing about the massive amount of Vaults. They aren't even hunting Vaults until the new guys show up.
>Time is a garbled mess with no sense of passing. As soon as Maya is dead and you spend like 10 minutes selling stuff... The villains have already made a deal with Aurelia, killed Jacobs CEO, and took over the planet with bandits and arrested everyone or killed them and already fortified the planet.
Nothing happens until the plot says it happens. Your characters are treated as being in the moment, but they are never around to stop anything. Atleast with Roland, it's from your POV and it's a mere few seconds of what happens instead of 30 seconds of watching Ava and Maya flop around and the death scene happens
Nathaniel Edwards
story pacing is slow as shit so going through it all again after the 1st playthrough is slow and tiring. Game sucks as single player game
Blake Richardson
Lets put it like this. Storywise, the game tries to be a jokey as the previous titles. Lets say First game is someone doing the Alphabet with their armpit.
Second game is bunch of people doing a rendition of 1812 Overture with various body parts for some silly performance.
Presequel? A few people doing Country roads with their burps around a campfire.
Borderlands 3? Dude who did the Alphabet with his arm bits tries to do Beethoven's 5th with some other people, it's offkey and out of tune and ends with the dude sharting himself so hard that he needs to be hospitalized.
Jack Rivera
>Epic Store exclusive
>dumb characters
>living on the 2nd game glory while offering little to nothing in addition
Nolan Price
>The Traveler
the what?
Evan Moore
Tales from the Borderlands Vault Monster. Basically a wandering Vault that travels the universe and teleports away to keep it's loot safe.
Bentley Miller
>>Epic Store exclusive
Retard
Nathan Cruz
the plot is aids.
the gameplay is the best in the series.
dont bother replying because i will absolutely destroy every single one of you.
Tyler Robinson
>Tales from the Borderlands
never played it
Carter Rogers
I don't like any of the writing in the third. Good post
Jacob Stewart
It went wrong the moment the second game was written. You don't have constant, repetitive chatter/waiting in a game meant to be played repeatedly over and over.
Wyatt Phillips
>and made no reference to it at all
But Rhys owns Atlas, which wouldn't have happened if not for Tales.
Rhys also has a single line saying how he doesn't like Vaults cause they're full of freaky shit, referring back to the one time he entered a vault.
Carson Martin
God bless save editing.
Imagine having to play through the game 8 times to get to end-game on all characters.
Dominic Taylor
>implying
how do i know you've never played bl3
you stupid fucking idiot
TVHM and mayhem are the same thing
you're not forced to replay the plot again
Dominic Morales
I haven't played borderlands 3, but please tell me they fixed this shit from BL2 in 3:
- balance, I don't want to die in 2 hits if every npc fucking takes 50 to down at endgame, they should have given the player in 2 the health vehicles had
- maximum of 2 playthroughs
- allow you to change your character class so I don't have to waste 5 fucking days grinding through the shit main story to level up so I can fight raid bosses
- allow a skip to UVHM mode immediately so you can level up naturally and have the world scale to you
- if you don't have world scaling, scale the npc's to the main story only, not like BL2 where suddenly the next main story quest is 2 or 3 levels above you meaning you need to go off and complete a load of side quests or grind just to continue which really really draws out the shit main story that you just want to rush through ASAP
Borderlands is a fun game but god so much of it is shit.
Brody Gomez
gameplay is the best, story is the worst
Oliver Williams
>balance
Yes
>2 playthroughs
yes, TVHM is optional now
>change character class
No, but you can start a character at lvl 13 if you have DLCs. That saves you around 1-2 hours of the story and you can level by doing only main story quests alone.
>UVHM
doesn't exist here, Mayhem mode replaces that and is what you're saying. You need to beat the story once to unlock it though.
Samuel Rogers
>8 times
TVHM is completely optional. You only want TVHM in case to have an easy access to Sanctuary's bank without leaving your farming spot or farm on level mission rewards, but that's it.
Thomas Rogers
This is the worst fucking post I've read in a really long time.
Levi Morgan
people say that it has the best gameplay but i fucking hated the level design in 3, in 2 it was what made the game fun.
Noah Evans
No, he's right
It's sounds exactly like something a Borderlands character would say, it fits perfectly
Eli Butler
not enough badass females
Jason Ramirez
Nothng, the gameplay is pretty solid. All of the 4 characters have great abilities.
>BUT MUH STORY
None of the 4 previous borderlands had great story, so shut the fuck up.
Jeremiah Ortiz
That's why it's so fucking terrible
Jordan Rodriguez
it didn't, it's the best game in the series.
Jose Myers
>where did it all go wrong
Borderlands
Cooper Ward
>Game has absolutely horrible, pain-inducing writing, characters and dialogue
>Makes absolutely sure you cannot skip any of it and have to wait on the spot for them to finish their shitty punchline
A very dangerous combination. Thank god they gave the option to turn dialogue voices to 0 though.
Adam Jackson
Not shooting Anthony Burch stone dead as soon as he walked through the doors and put his resume on their desk was mistake numero uno.
William Lopez
>None of the 4 previous borderlands had great story
Not if you tried to take them seriously, that would be retarded
But they used to be funny at least some of the time, now it's both stupid AND unfunny
Samuel Fisher
Randy happen
Hudson Torres
The subplots on the first two planets were alright (and Typhon was fun as hell) but yeah...everything involving the twins, Ava, or Lilith was such a fucking drag.
Tannis was the only character directly involved with the main story that I could stomach.
