Don't bother, while having a few endearing moments, one piece is mostly shit due to the sheer volume and it gets only worse as longer as it gets.
Latest manga chapters are a barely coherent mess, covering the pages in 80% speech bubbles you can't tell who they are belonging, too because they switch the location and group of character around 5 times per page.

The Pirate Warriors games are fun, but they're like abridged versions of the arcs and leave out some characters. In Pirate Warriors 3, they don't mention the Neptune Brothers during the Fishmsn Island chapter (who honestly would have been great playable characters).

The One Piece protag is probably the best shounen protag. He isn't a whiny bitch or some bishounen bait, he's just some kid who has a dream he believes in. He doesn't have any greater morals, and the mangaka doesn't even pretend he is particularly deep - which doesn't mean he isn't a well developed character. He is just simple. If you don't follow your dreams yourself and just whine about being weak, he will call you a useless idiot and be done with you. He's the type of guy who respects people who stand up for themselves against all odds. Not a broody edgelord, not a whiny faggot. Just some wacky kid with some principles.
I don't think One Piece pacing is that slow. It's just a long ass manga.

The covers of chapters will, after some time, start telling their own little stories, telling you what side characters or defeated villains are up to as they are not in focus. Oda likes re-introducing characters later on, and these cover stories are his way of letting you know what is going on around the world when the protag gang isn't there.

One piece characters are well fleshed out and suprisingly the interactions between every character is really believable. No bullshit like bakugou where everyone sucks off the Shithead of no positive trait. If a character is a shithead he will be treated like a shithead.
