>If you criticize a game, people will think you're either a fake fan or just a troll who hates everything
>If you say anything nice about a game, people will think you're either a shill or a stupid consumer who will buy anything
>If you don't have an opinion on a game, people will either assume you either have bad tastes or assume you have extreme political views
Why is it impossible to have proper discourse in gaming nowadays? We've reached a point where it's impossible for video games to improve because companies have realized that people will buy anything. Not only that, but people don't care about improvement, they only want their opinions and feelings validated. Nowadays video games are less passionate and more soulless because a bad or mediocre game could easily get the sales and reviews that a great game deserves.
If you criticize a game, people will think you're either a fake fan or just a troll who hates everything
Just don't play games bro.
what games do you like
Just buy the shit you like and ignore the shit you don't faggot.
THERE IS NO RIGHT ANSWER OP, WELCOME TO HELL
Why is it the people who use that image are huge pussy baby faggots?
>just don't play games bro
>just don't watch shows and movies bro
>just don't read books bro
>just don't do anything bro
>just let everything you love be raped and destroyed bro
>BRO DON'T THINK JUST CONSUME OR GET OUT BRO THE MEANING OF LIFE IS TO CONSUME YOU MUST CONSOOOOOOOOOOOOM
you clearly have the answer since you said some of it. the only question is what you are going to do about it.
>the only question is what you are going to do about it.
Give them what they fuckin deserve, in Minecraft.
We've reached a point where people will find any reason to complain because the average person is less happy than before and we have a more negative culture. It's not "cool" to enjoy things. Obviously this problem is much worse on Zig Forums than most places.
I feel like it's the opposite of that. People love to consume products and adamantly defend what they consume, because if someone dares to critique their favorite products, they feel so personally attacked that it causes them to behave irrationally. There have even been people who buy multiple copies of a game in an attempt to spite people who don't like the game that they like. It's ridiculous.
this feels like I see both extremes here nowadays, as if the shitposting has amplified.
theyre missing the context of the documentary it's pulled from. if you see the bullshit the chinese guy goes through, their "tiresome" feelings towards children's toys pale in comparison
Unless there's some gay reddit outcry, your opinions literally don't matter. Vote with your wallets.
those people are not happy. as you say, it's said out of "spite". Zig Forums tends to verbalize on the negative side more but the essence is the same. i stopped opening cyberpunk threads because the pasta there is foreign.
>DON'T CARE STILL BUYING
this is not Zig Forums as i knew it.
Because people would prefer to argue and insult rather than reach a consensus. Even the more lengthy debates among people usually just results in "we agree to disagree."
People have become more predictable the more aware of each other we've become. If you want to break the mold you have to be stupid, but even that is an awareness coin-toss between being genuinely stupid or being a troll from another person's perspective.
Discourse is constantly discouraged through lack of merit/reward in our current culture, the more effort put into the discourse the more unrewarding it becomes. Nobody walks away with anything new that they couldn't have looked up on a wiki page, or from the other pointless arguments on the internet. It's like you're encouraged to just google shit or you're just angrily begging to be spoonfed a compelling argument which is double-irritating, because the people with knowledge don't want to keep typing the same shit all the time and at the same time that's all they can really do.
In short: you will never win attempting discourse in this information era combined with tribal-esque behavior regarding their brand of information.
>can't vote with your wallet because consoomers will consoom and spend more money on a game than what is necessary because they think it's their duty to make sure that the products they consume are met with the upmost praise even if it means buying multiple copies or spending hundreds of dollars on microtransactions
it's fucking stupid as hell
Because you're at least 18 which is double the age of everyone on reddit/Zig Forums
Both are true, and it's fucking annoying that obnoxious faggots are so loud
>Vote with your wallets.
This isn't and hasn't been a thing for at least a decade now. It took an entire internet revolt to get Battlefront 2 to change their lootbox monetization and you know how much that game sold? 7 million in its first quarter of being released 7 million. It then sold several million more the next year.
stop browsing Zig Forums
a lot of it is bait to get responses.
I've never heard of anyone buying multiple copies of a game to spite someone. sounds like a highly isolated incident or made up shit. most people buy a game more than once because it's one of their favorites, to play it on the go (Switch), updated graphics or added features, etc.
Well, it's not like the three are mutually exclusive
>market is filled with absolutelly abhorrent lowest-quality garbage
>to actually spend money on it requires you to either be a shill or a brainwashed consoomer
>the abovementioned legit cannot comprehend that their favourite corporation is not flawless and thus see anyone who criticizes it as fake fans or trolls
>fencesitting centrists are huge hypocrytes and usually just as guilty of shiteating
t. calls game he doesnt like shit and his fans are faggots while MY game is awesome but I wont say which game so I wont get hurt
This is you fucking retard
True. I guess it's the inverse of opinions. Your opinion would matter if you're already part of a group being vocal about that opinion, and that group is big enough for companies to give a shit. Whereas with your wallets, you'd need to collectively not buy the game and make a severe enough dent in profits.
It's not something that's exclusive to just one video game or franchise. This is something that's been going on for more than a decade now.
Corporate worship and all this shit about taking sides legitimately confuses me. It's like people are so devoid of meaning in their lives they'll do anything, and I do mean anything, to feel validated.
Like fucking christ, why don't these people just get a hobby instead of trying to drag everything down. Find your own happiness instead of trying to find anger from everything else.
it's all of Zig Forums. I remember someone on Zig Forums saying they'd start a hate thread for their favorite actress because otherwise the threads would die. Zig Forums should never be taken too seriously. the person shitting on a game might love it. the one saying its good might be posting an intentional "hot take". it's a circus.
>I’ve never heard of people buying multiple copies of a game to spite someone.
I seem to remember people on leddit or resetera or somewhere buying multiple copies of TLoU2 once people realised it wasn’t actually that good of a game. I know there’s definitely been cases of certain groups watching movies in cinemas repeatedly to spite another movie - Twitter loudmouths watched Birds of Prey repeatedly so they could try and get the movie to gross higher than Sonic the Hedgehog
humans aren't smart enough for the internet. It offers a wealth of confirmation bias and echo chambers, polarizing and entrenching the fuck out of us on matters we otherwise wouldn't give a shit about. That applies to everything, including politics, and whether you think everyone is a sour bitch or brainless consoomer. People taking shit you read online seriously used to be an extremely stupid minority (hence why trolling was so popular), but now they're the norm. They don't realize the person they're having an "intellectual conversation" with is 12 years old or a ruskie bot and that none of this shit is real, in the sense they imagine it.
This shit happens often with God Hand fags. Poor fucks.
that reminds me of when my friend was trying to give everyone alter echo but nobody wanted it. having multiple copies of tlou2 is only hurting themselves.
