I've been playing yakuza kiwami 2 on xbox game pass. Im almost at the end and wanna play the other games in the series. Should i get the remastered collection, buy the games for ps3 or wait for the collection to come to the xbox game pass?
Also, Yakuza Thread

That's Implying it'll come out on PC/Xbox
I honestly want to know too user
I'm 100% they won't port the collection to PC/Xbox this year.
They'll probably want to focus on Like a Dragon.
It will come in 2021 for pc/xbox after they milk LaD, don't worry
I wouldn't expect the remastered collection to come to game pass until after 7 releases in November.
I started questioning it a bit ago when i saw a post here about a tokyo game show presentation by microsoft later this month. If the collection and more games are going to come out on xbox in the coming months, it would most likely be announced there. Maybe ill get 3 for the ps3 and wait for the rest to come out on game pass
I'm thinking of doing the same once it's emulatable.
Problem is that I don't know how much of an upgrade remaster is
I started Yakuza 0 on Xbone and I'm pretty sure the collection is guaranteed to come to all platforms eventually. I have a PS4 but I'll just wait.
>Apparently, 21 side stories were removed in total. As you mentioned, so were the hostess club segments (the hostesses themselves are now just girls you can meet and immediately date at a few locations), the "make the #1 hostess" side game, Answer x Answer (a trivia-based arcade game), mahjong, shogi, and the massage mini-game.
>That's 4 mini-games out of 20 removed, 21 of 123 side missions, and the hostess side games. At least two of the side missions that were removed had cut scenes in them. Other than gameplay elements, the theme song was cut (most likely due to Yazawa Eikichi's distribution rights). Naturally, there are reportedly changes made in the translation such as names ("Kazama," for instance, is known as "Fuma" in the Western versions of the game, because in the English translations, the main character is not referred to by his last name, Kiryu, but by his personal name, Kazuma, and they didn't want people mixing the characters up).
>So...something like 15-20% of the game was removed. It's all side material, though; reportedly, the entire main story remains.
TL;DR Remastered is superior
From some vids that i saw on youtube, the remake looks better but they took some substories out. The graphics dont bother me that much but i think they added some Qol features in the remake.
How is remaster superior if it took all that out?
That shit is a huge reason why I play yakuza honestly
That post is about the PS3 western version
KIRYU: BAKA MITAI DAME DA NE
BIG CHUNGUS: AM I A JOKE TO YOU?
LOL XD
EDIT: WOW THIS BLEW UP
EDIT 2.0: Holy crapjuice, Batman (Christian Bale, not Robert Pattinson)! My first gold! Thank you, random citizen of the internet!
EDIT 3.0: Hot damn. Another gold? I think I’m going to have to celebrate this day with the adding of chocolate to milk. Thank you, second sweet person.
Ok well I'm a retard
Does the remaster add that shit back in?
So the remasteres adds all that content back? I heard it took some sub stories out.
Yes. All of it.
They only cut the tranny mission.
Get yourself a used PS4 and play it; no point in playing it on a PS3 since you'd be missing out
>Yakuza 6
>Judgement
>Fist of North Star
Unless you REALLY want to play Dead Souls I guess
Hm alright
Well I have a ps4 but my roommate hogs the shit out of it so I'll just have to deal with that shit to get my kiryu fix
Thanks alot user. Everyone raves about judgement so ill play it after the yakuza mainline titles but what about the fist of the north star game? Is it worth it?
did the other yakuza games sold badly or something? it seems like a lot of people are begging for the pc ports and they simply refuse to do it, wtf.
It's the same deal as Berserk Band of The Hawk: It's just a spin off title of a main franchise that just plays the same.
It's basically a Yakuza set in the universe of Hokuto no Ken and Ken himself is voiced by the VA of Kiryu. Hell, you can even change his skin to the man himself:

Worth a playthrough and it probably has the best combat the series will ever have at this point.
It gets really grind heavy if you are a troopher/cheevo whore
Remastered over PS3. Yakuza 3 and 5 are shit on PS3.
Sega's prioritizing the new one they can charge full price for. The rest will come later.
I dont think so. Sega even said that due to the sucess of persona 4 on pc they would start porting more games. Yakuza on xbox is weird though. Story related trophies are rare in the sense that only 10 percent of players have them. I think people dont stick with the games or something
in my opinion the yakuza games are best savored and spaced out in time, not rushed through all in order just to get to the next one
that said, you do you
That's true but the last Yakuza on PC was Kiwami 2 a whole year ago.
I think he means cause OP said he just finished 2
It’s a lot of fun even if you know nothing about the source material
It’s more of an rpg than yakuza but not by much
I really enjoyed it though
I played 0 through 6 over the course of a year
I enjoyed them all personally, never felt burnout
I imagine they're focusing more on Yakuza 7 right now than porting old games.
If it was coming any time soon I'd say wait, but otherwise the PS4 collection is easily the best way to go.
The only reason to go PS3 is like one boring substory that they felt wasn't exactly PC, but that's not worth the terrible performance. Ps4 collection runs significantly better.
I will warm you though, as I'm realizing this myself: these ain't Kiwami. They're straight upscaled ports with little QoL improvements. Yakuza 3 especially has slow, awful combat with sponge bosses. It's rough, but the cutscenes are super well directed and acted. It's what keeps me going.
Yakuza 3-6 are definitely getting ported at some point, it's just a matter of time at this point.
Sega has already said they're gonna aggressively focus on porting games and just a day ago said they're interested in localizing some Yakuza spin-offs, so they definitely want to do more with the franchise.
After 7 comes out I'm assuming the 3-6 ports will quickly follow.
