massive 100gb lol

that if you can't afford an SSD in 2020 then current gen gaming is not for you

Makes me feel like they aren't even trying to compress anything anymore because they're lazy fucks

Most pc gamers had ssds 10 years ago so i dont feel any different

>100gb
>massiv-
wait, for a SINGLE GAME? that's actually massive

You're correct
youtube.com/watch?v=pW-SOdj4Kkk

wrong, most of PC gamers don't have it. Hell most of PC gamers still game at 1080p

They aren't trying to compress anything because they want to be the only game on your hard drive. Don't forget that the parent company also owns Call of Duty which also has a colossal size.

The latest CoD game is over 200gb

I have 6TB of memory, all on SSD or NVMe.

Stop wasting your money on useless stuff.

Literally don't care because I only use my HDD for movies and shit like that. Only console fags still use HDDs for gaming.

They changed it to say HDD as well. You don't have to have an SSD.

SSDs come even in cheap laptops nowadays
why are you even comparing the storage to the resolution people use

It's an anti-piracy measure. They assume pirates are poorfags with shit internet, so they bloat their games with uncompressed assets to make distribution more of a pain in the ass.

You can buy a 1tb USB SSD for $100. There is zero excuse.

Because the vast majority of PC gamers still game on shitty PCs

SSDs are superior to HDDs so them becoming the norm is fine by me.
That said, you're a fucking retard if you think WoW:Shadowlands will be unplayable without an SSD. The game worked perfectly fine for over 13 years on standard HDDs and nothing being added this expansion will change that.

validated

>100gb SSD
>massive

Thats fine, an external USB 2.0 SSD should work.

>6TB of memory
What CPU/motherboard supports that much?
>all on SSD or NVMe
Oh, it's retarded

WoW is an MMO, that's the anti-piracy measure

Rather the other way around actually, a big reason for the massively bloated game sizes in recent years is asset doubling.
This is because consoles have slow hard drives and losing high quality assets from those pieces of shit takes forever. This can be mitigated by multiplying assets onto the sectors that are then read sequentially (both for hard drives and discs). Often these console installs are then carried over to PC releases due to laziness.
With SSDs and upcoming storage able decompression technology you can install straight batches of compressed data and assets and simply power through the loading process with raw speed.

I already have 2 SSDs in my rig, it makes me feel nothing

WoW is not a console game

Let's me take all my files around with me. I even have an OS installed on it to take over other computers.

SSDs literally predate 1080p going mainstream.
Using an SSD to store games isn't what "the majority" does but "the majority" does have the ability to play a given game from their system SSD.

What is the advantage of making a person not want to buy more games? Not wanting the industry you belong to to grow is a good tactic?

Tbh.......i don't understand what that means.

What's an ssd anyway?

And WoW is also fucking huge in terms of content.

How does a game that would look 'okay' in 2002 require anything of the sort?

I would somehow understand that if this game would have some really big open world+good looking high quality assets and shit but WoW looks absolutely fucking dogshit like what the fuck lmao why would it require Ssd. Devs truly dont give a shit anymore cause faggots will eat that shit up anyways lol.

so they'll continue playing only your game since there's no room for other games or its too much of a hassle to download it again

It's WoW though. I don't have an SSD and BFA plays competently enough, at least graphically. What happens in 2-3 weeks when I log in after prepatch? Does the game just not work anymore?

Another upgrade? it never ends

WoW is hardly the only game to take up 100+ gigs ya dingus. We're talking about a broader trend here.

Is someone at Blizzard actively trying to kill the company or something? They do know 80% of WoW players play on literal toasters?

based brainlet

>needing a ssd for that graphic fidelity

Imagine wasting 100GB of your SSD on a fucking MMO, with two decades old assets no less.

Literal toasters have SSDs now old man
