I'm gonna say yes. It's a technical disaster and has some really blatant design flaws, like "how the fuck did nobody realize how bad this is" blatant. BUT it's the first game in over half a decade to make me feel an actual positive emotion in my cold dead heart. So that's something I guess.

For individual people it can easily be their GOTY, it's sadly never going to get mainstream appeal or even cult status like Celeste or Hollow Knight got.
Not the first time one of my favorite games got the shaft, tho. I just beat it today as a matter of fact and it's undisputed one of the best experiences I've had in a game.

Even the lack of polish, glitches, lack of some story elements that would've enhanced the game, it was still pretty fun
The music is fantastic and the combat could be a lot of fun but you have to grind to get the actual decent shit that keeps the pace up
The visuals are also good and the bosses have very fun designed fights
Its a 6.5/10 but no more than that

I don't think the gameplay is supreme god tier or anything, but I think it's above average. Especially when you play it as a rhythm game and not an action game. The biggest issues are the bugs. I can't even S ran DJSS on crazy because of a bug apparently. Parry score doesn't go passed 2 no matter what I do.

Honestly the commitment to hiding what the story is actually about, while artistically admirable, did it no favors with the public. Whenever I saw this game being discussed by normalfags they would always go on about how the premise of Rock being underdogs and EDM being some evil force flattening creativity in the music industry seemed weird and tasteless. And while that's not actually the message of the game, you wouldn't know it from the trailers and promo material.
