it was the peak of the series, but every time i want to play it i remember the loading times

>it was the peak of the series
i think you mean 2

Probably closer to 2 minutes, user.
At least they give you a gameplay related finding game to play.

At least the loading music is awesome

The Sims load times shouldn't fuckin matter. Once you're in the town there's very few reasons for the game to hit a load screen.
At least it wasn't like The Sims 4 where I have to have a loading screen to see my fucking neighbors houses. It's embarrassing you think shorter, but more frequent load times is better than what the sims 3 managed for the amount of content it had

>takes 45 years to load while they flash pictures of interracial couples at you
fixd

woops my rant meant for op not this poor soul trying to reminisce

Most people who play the Sims aren’t on high end PCs. TS3 fucked toasters, which fucked most of the playerbase. TS4’s loading screens are more frequent, but allow more people to play.

I played the sims 3 on a toaster AMD a8 APU prebuilt for years.. again, the game runs fine when it gets started. The Sims 4 trimming all the delicious fat of the previous one for accessibility only made it an obsolete title comparatively and the fact Sims 3 AND 2 are still both widely played today is proof of that.

Anyone complaining about the loading wait times hasn't played GTA V which has legitimate issues with server load times and simply not loading into the game sometimes

It's not just the loading screens. This game also goes through a fuckload of simulations for each and every Sim that build up over time and slow the game's simulation speed to a crawl. There are a dozen or so mods to combat this but they don't fully win out over it, and eventually you have no choice but to start over.

The world that comes with this expansion pack freezes every 2 minutes. EA never bothered to fix it.

I never experienced this but I also downloaded the game in a massive pirate repack with the mods that would remove errors and stuck sims/cars/etc. I imagine owners who paid for a copy would be mad
shiggy diggy couldn't be me

So when the fuck are they going to make Sims 5?

When Becky stops splurging on EA item store goodies in The Sims 4.

Is the concept of simulated life patented or something?
Why can't some other dev make sims-like game?

These games are deceptively expensive and time-consuming to develop. I know there's one indie project called Paralives trying to do something similar, but there's no telling if it will pan out.

It would be hard for someone to really come up with a version that doesn't have something already covered by The Sims. Plus arguably speaking half the appeal of The Sims is the aesthetic like the simmish speak and what not. And even if you do stumble upon something unique to add to the genre big daddy EA has more money and resources than you and will just be able to assimilate it into their next release anyway.

>Paralives
Oh sweet be checking it

>something already covered by The Sims
ts4 covered virtually nothing

This. Whenever I want to play Sims 3 I just fire it up before going for a smoke, fap or shit.
By the time I'm done game is ready.

They announced it already didn't they?
I guess it'll be done once they wonder what content they can cut into a DLC while making the gfx look more like a retarded phone game

*crashes out of nowhere and you forgot to save your 3 hour simming session because saving takes 20 minutes leaving you with nothing*

>They announced it already didn't they?

nope

Not really
Just need a simplified Rimworld style personality system slapped into something like a homemade Sims 1 and people will eat it up
Unfortunately most of the Sims community's autism goes into making new hats and sex mods for the newest game instead of something what would benefit the community as a whole

>sex mods
>not a community benefit

>Why can't some other dev make sims-like game?
It takes resources

And everything else will be accused of being a sims ripoff anyway

Even Rimworld is a mess in this aspect, there really is a lot going on under the hood with a game like this, the homemade Sims 1 part would be the biggest challenge.

Yeah, one big loading screen in the beginning is better than multiple "small" ones (30sec isn't exactly small though) that constantly interrupt the playing. In Sims4 I constantly get text invitations to go out with some friends but I have to turn them down simply because I don't wanna watch a loading screen. Plus the sims that are left home do nothing of a value while I'm away. At least in sims3 I could check on them with ease.

It will be better to make it open source and let the community develop it.

Splines don't reticulate themselves

>tfw when you run the game with a m2 ssd with all expansions
Makes creating sims faster too.

Were the load times really horrendous? I dont remember it being that bad
