I will not hate on undertale or deltarune. However I will hate on Toby Fox for letting alphys get away with the monster equivalent of human experimentation while leaving Asgore to rot and die alone for making a tough decision in a horrible situation and then acting like toriel is any better for abandoning her position as queen of the underground. Asgore got seriously fucked in both Undertale and deltarune and it makes upset.

He killed other humans who likely had enough determination to save and reload as well. They probably said something similar to “you’ve killed me before” and this clued him into the fact that humans can save and load. Also, Sans and Alphys did research about the potential of determination so it only makes sense that Asgore as king would be somewhat aware of the phenomenon. He doesn’t understand saving on the level of say, Sans or Flowey, but he does know that it’s a thing.

If Deltarune truly won't have a morality system, then it shouldn't have the battle system it has. Sparing in general feels kind of weird, the king of spades for example doesn't react at all to your acts, the fight just ends after x amount of turns, also Susie doesn't really match the playstyle and will usually just defend to get tp for Ralsei. The plot better give them more tools to play with, as it stands the magic system is very barebones.

i hate that you can just run from every battle in undertale and still get the true ending, i hate how you never need to use the higher tier more interesting weapons and their patterns unless you go on neutral only, which you'll never do unless you managed to play the game without being spoiled and i hate how deltarune's pacifist fights rely too much on you using defend without using that extra tp on much of anything. think thats about it though.
i actually really like this detail because it proves that a human said the exact same thing before you which adds to his existential crisis. it's also cool that he's the only person besides flowey/chara/sans that has an understanding of resets, though not a complete one.
anyway, he was essentially throwing the fight and there's not much different he would do either way.
