FF5 if you want to experience job classes.
FF6 or FF7 of you want a story. 6 if you prefer 2D, 7 if 3D.

VII. Then try IV and/or VI for 2D, then decide which direction you want to go. Deeper gameplay? V. More 3D? Sci-Fi? VIII. Fantasy? IX. Blend? X. SRPG? Tactics. After you've played a few, it becomes pretty easy to figure out which ones interest you. The games are mostly standalone, even when they are set in the same world, like XII and the tactics games. Unless something is a direct sequel or spin-off of a specific game, you can play whatever you want and be fine.

FF7 if you want story
FF8 if you want to experience opiods without actually consuming them
FF9 if you want a summation of the early years
FFX if you want a really fun brain dead version of the same shit
FFXIV if you want to play a dope MMO for free
Chrono Trigger if you want a 10/10 2D RPG

13 (it’s good linear wise for people getting in though any platform is fine)
15 (you will get to know what upgrades they done platform any also ost is nice)

FF9 is best 3D FF that represents the NES/SNES era. Basically a more modern take on classic FF.

It also aged the best compared to it's other PS1 counterparts.

I finally played ff9 blind the first time and it's amazing. I liked how much it played on ideas from the older games. I've played 7 and 3 which are both great but 9 may be my new favorite

ARR's cutscene where Raubahn slices that faggot in two was great. Heavensward is the most overrated shit ever bar maybe the Zodiac fight which was beautiful.
All the rest is pointless and the fact that you go as far as them being even on par with things like FFT is an insult to everyone's intelligence. Yes, even on Zig Forums. You still have time to enjoy good games user, leave that cellphone crap behind.

Because people that got hard into MMO's are now broken and are under the illusion that if they are not progressing at something online, they are wasting their time.
