You have to remember when Greeks peaked in 500 BCE, the world population was 150 million and Greeks made up about 5 million of that spread-out in the mediterranean.
World population is now 8,000 million, and Greeks make up only about 15 million world wide.
Statistically this is why Greeks peaked back then. They were a much larger % of the world population back then, and they were the first to do many important things, being the first to do something with a much less populated world is how they peaked.
