Okay Anons, I had a really good idea to show our support to the talented square enix developers working on FF14. I think we should all work together and send Yoshi P and his whole crew a giant fan letter showing our support to their continued work on this amazing game. I know if I was working on a game it'd mean a lot to be to recieve something like this. And to remember those who's flames burnt out too soon.
Anyway, Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers thread. Share your stories and memories of playing one of gamings all time greatest multiplayer games.
Someone new/bad probably, if they were dropping like a brick even on single pulls

Both are wrong. Here's what you do, as either a healer or a tank:
Ignore your party chat and do your job. If you're a tank, pull wall to wall and if you die, try again and again until you succeed. If you're a healer, keep your tank alive and if he isn't dying spam your AOE. If he dies, try again and do better next time. If you argue about anything in chat you're a helpless moron.
more individual fail states, especially for dps and tanking

i'm going to give controller a try, am i making a mistake?
Liam Powell
depends on your job, I use it for gathering and it’s fucking comfy. I can’t imagine healing with a controller since I use F1-8 to target party members, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t be fine for tanks and dps
Nathaniel Garcia
only if you're healing, and only if you don't put the time in to learn the targeting system

It's one of the best MMORPGs ever made. And my personal game of all time. I'd say it's a perfect game for what it is.
Connor Wright
there's no such thing as a perfect mmorpg, user. they're all heavily flawed in various ways, and XIV is no exception. the fanbase of this game in particular seems to largely gloss over them, though. it's very strange, and no other fanbase is like this.

OMG BASED REDDIT-SELCH, HIGH FIVE FELLOW REDDITBROS!
Because it's a masterpiece of a game. And all the good things make up for its few shortcomings. The same as Mario 64 for example. It has its own set of flaws in a few areas but just from how good it is it still stands out as a Masterpiece. A game which set a standard for all others to strive for. You can see the ripples XIV set in motion across the gaming public.
Any game you can easily play for 5000 hours and still have fun with is a masterpiece. How many other games do people burn out after only 10 or 20 hours? And this is ignoring the multiple world records XIV set for music, story, and players.
Kayden Peterson
what world record has it set for players?
Xavier Hall
Just did the introductory Dark Knight quest. Seems pretty based. I can't decide on a fucking DPS to main so I guess I'm just tanking from now on, since Gunbreaker is fun, and I like the Dark Knight aesthetic. Are there any general tanking tips I should know? I'm most worried about tanking in raids and anything where I have a 2nd tank. There is no way from what I can tell, to enlargen the icons so I'm worried I wouldn't be able to tell if I have too many stacks of something and need to switch agro.

Being the highest rated MMO and having the most amount of fun
Landon Lopez
tank swapping is very rare nowadays. the biggest skill to learn in tanking in general is defense cooldown usage
Kayden Taylor
>There is no way from what I can tell, to enlargen the icons R3/Ctrl+Home
Tanking is the easiest shit in the world for XIV. Enmity is a non-issue so it's do rotation, pop cooldowns as required (don't pop a big one for fuck all damage and mostly ignore auto attacks etc.) and provoke/shirk tank swaps.
Matthew Young
>Being the highest rated MMO that's not a record "for players", that's an opinion by critics. it's also not even true. >having the most amount of fun not measurable in any meaningful way.
Face the boss away from party Do combo Use cooldowns if it's a high end fight If a tankbuster gives you a debuff then tank swap Know the like 3 fights in the game that need a tank LB Congrats you're now in the top 80 percentile of tanks
Bentley Fisher
>There is no way from what I can tell, to enlargen the icons You can enlarge/shrink any element on the HUD with the HUD settings
Kayden Miller
you suck
Alexander Ross
>Tank swapping is very rare nowadays This very tier has two fights that need tank swaps, and most EXs this expansion do
Kayden Gomez
If you're tanking a dungeon and your healer isn't obviously new/shit, pull 2+ packs at a time and frontload your big cooldowns* and AOE everything down together. Obviously if it's your first time in a dungeon you may want to go easy but it should be pretty quick to be able to tell when you can take on more.
* If it's a WHM spamming holy you can wait until they're done stunning everything
Nathan James
you can make icons larger in the UI settings. look for buffs/debuffs or w/e it's called you'll get it when you see it. you can make all that shit as big as you want and where you want.
as for tanking it's pretty simple. don't move mobs too much, use cooldowns, your dps matters so try and do as much damage as you can within reason. tank swaps aren't really worth being worried about since they're not that common and are extremely obvious.
Samuel White
>WHM >got killed because tank didn't aggro all mobs >tempted to blame tank but eh whatever
Dylan White
Oh right and on big packs in dungeons use Arm's Length
Benjamin Jackson
Entirely on you. No mobs can kill you so fast you can't Sleep them or lead them into the tanks AoE.

Why do people keep trying to perpetuate this lie?
David Hill
you missed out on Heavensward DRK. Unironically the most fun tank they ever came up with, sadly they gutted it for muh job equality.
John Ramirez
the same reason you faggots go around telling lies about other games.
