If you don't have a 144hz monitor in 2020, you have been missing out a lot.

>fatigue or dry eyes
No, I'm not an old boomer.

>not using a crt

They both look the same to me

hertz has to do with motion on your screen, not picture quality.

unless ur a tryhard in comp games just go with 75hz 2k

in games do you swing your cameras a lot? do u notice more or less tearing
also have u checked the settings

yes and i question whether improved motion also help dry eyes

get a 165hz 2k monitor or you are poor.

144 Hz is the norm in 2020. It's the same as having a HDD instead of a SSD - it means you're living in the fucking past.

>fatigue or dry eyes
Those warnings that used to be in the beginning of game manuals when they still made those were for normalfags like you.

I bet you get motion sickness when playing an FPS.

>yes and i question whether improved motion also help dry eyes
it should put less strain on the eyes so it should help.

I got a 144hz monitor and a lot of the games I play that are stuck at 30 or 60 look like absolute shit on it without digging through settings on the nvidia driver level. It’s kind of a huge bitch. BUT for the games that actually run at higher frame rates it’s pretty noticeable.

lots of games can't go over 60 frames.

I just got a 144hz monitor last month and the difference between 60hz is night and day. Smooth as fuck and Gsync is a nice touch also.

dry eye? no. fatigue? yes. I guess it helps lessen the strain since everything is much smoother

>is it worth it
Purely depends on what games you play and if you current set up can even get to 144 fps. Doesn't matter if you got a 360hz monitor, if your setup is so shit that it could barely even hold 60fps on games then you're wasting money.

if you don't have a 144hz monitor you're missing on the smoothest browsing experience possible.

Once you play at 144hz you'll never go back to 60fps unless you absolutely have too.

There is absolutely a diminishing return.

Going from 20s/30s to 60 is huge. Going over 60 a little bit is also very noticeable.

Getting to 120 and beyond it starts to far more depend on the type of game and how well the monitor can drive the frames without blur or if it has black frame insertion.

Its nice but starts to depend on the quality of the monitor and its features and the type of game you play at that point.

Same thing for resolution and size and distance. Past a certain point on a desk size starts to become a bad thing. 1440 over 1080 you majorly notice at a desk, but less a gap between 1440 and 4k at a couple of feet distance provided your monitor isn't way oversized.

Type of panel, black levels, black frame insertion, brightness, and the speed at which it can drive pixels without heavy blur becomes more and more important the further up that Hz you go.

I've been using a X34 Predator for a few years now and still going strong. Don't see myself upgrading for a while now.
Only things I'm really missing is HDR and it's only 100hz. But I can live with that.
I'm waiting for a good 32:9 IPS monitor. At least 120hz, HDR10 or w.e. the current gold standard is. Gsync would be nice, but not necessary.
I think there's a couple monitors that's close, but they're VA panels which I want IPS.

most of the ones that can't can if you open an ini file and change a value.

That's a nice monitor. IPS is so hard to get with good refresh rates and low blur, but I like it so much more than VA.

it looks better right now just scrolling up and down this page not just in games

mines 85hz its good enough

I can immediately notice the difference switching from 60hz to 144hz by doing little cursor swirlies. How can you not?

I bought a new 2k 144hz monitor recently, but honestly I haven't been able to really notice the difference yet.
I know that there objectively is an improvement, and I'm not gonna complain with getting more frames and a smoother experience, but it's not as immediately noticeable as some people made it sound like.
2k resolution on the other hand is very nice and noticeable.

My gaming laptop has a 75hz monitor and after getting used to it, u cant go back to 60hZ now honestly. I fear if i make the jump to 144hZ i won't be able to enjoy games on a lower refresh rate anymore

144Hz is the minimum refresh rate, suitable for casual gamers only. Competitive gamers should be on 360Hz already.

Probably doesn't know how to switch it out of the default 60Hz mode.

i thinkm we much the same monitor bro, i can tell by your happiness of the 144hz>60hz difference. does it glow red on its stand

i can't even reach a clean 144fps on loads of games, but it's always the goal i am for. maybe the 3070 will be the thing that makes 1440p/144hz the new 1080p60fps

looks the same to me

Nah I don't have an ROG Swift, came close to getting a TN one though but settled with a Dell. I want a PG279Q though

>searching for a 1440p 144hz monitor for the last few weeks
>every fucking monitor has some kind of problem that makes me hesitate buying it
Thoughts on the Asus VG27AQ? It's on sale at the moment.

Don't you mean 244hz?

nice bro. enjoy your new monitor you earned it. it makes everything better. consider yourself technochad, i'd say 92% of the GP that are into tech only have a 60hz monitor.

>he doesn't have destroyed eyesight from staring at a screen from a safe distance
normalfag

i use a 4k 120hz gaming tv for my pc. looks great. 40 inches and only cost 200 dollars.
