This is just Mario x Tetris 99 in terms of mechanics, so no directly fucking with other players. Just look at how popular Fall Guys is right now. You can fuck with other players in so many ways there.

Look up DMCA Royale. Basically the dev changed all Mario assets to generic ones, but Nintendo came back and forced him to completely shut down the game. It's speculated that they were going after him because he still used the same level designs as the original, but it's not confirmed because they refused to specify what infringed their copyright when he asked them about it.

He was also called out being a teenager, but this has been proven false.
