Is there an RPG where the childhood friends stays as a childhood friend, and the protagonist actually fells in love with a woman thats more connected to him?

The only one i can think of is Lufia 2. But Tea still loved Maxim.

>Childhood friend is just another obstacle in our protagonists way

>>childhiod friend is the love interest
Good, the childhood friend always get shafted, they need more wins.

FF8? Quistis knew Squall since childhood (but they forgot) and he rejects her
Eh, maybe Sands of Destruction? Though here is the heroine who has a childhood friend, not the hero

I was more thinking on a story that breaks the stuff about the childhood friend being a love interest at all.

Like, imagine a story where the protagonist has a childhood friend of the opposite sex, but stays as a childhood friend. Later he fells in love with someone he meets in an adventure and the childhood friend is happy for it.
Bonus points if someone teases the childhood friend and the protagonist but they are like "why? because we are childhood friends? no lol we are just friends" and they are happy staying that way.

Don't worry, there are plenty more fish in the sea, user.

You did it! You proved what should have been a mutually agreed upon statement wrong by bringing up an obscure exception! 50 contrarian points and the "I'm a Useless Fucking Tool" title have been added to your account.

Is there anything more romantic? Someone sounds bitter.

>romantic

try pathetic

Can't really think of something like that, it must exist but devs seem to their love triangle drama

Unironically what did he mean by this
That user asked something and I just brought up the examples I remembered and
>FF8
>obscure

>jrpg
>hot, busty female secondary character constantly flirting with main character
>main character always brushes her off

based

based on what?

my 6 cm dick

tales of xillia, sort of.

I'd say childhood friend love interests are way overused in video games, but I get why. They are an easy out for a romance option since they don't really need any development. Too bad they often end up being really bland, boring characters because of it. Like Tifa.

Chrono Trigger, although some people will deny the shit out of it regardless.

According to Japan love interests must always be really shy and pure about such feelings, never flirting ever. That sort of behavior is seen as one going to the older, sexy chick who doesn't really have a chance anyway because cute and wholesome > mature and sexy according to Japan.

Star Ocean: Til The End Of Time

wait, did sophie not fuck the protagonsit? never finished that shit

It has romance options so technically it counts. However Sophia is the default love interest that is near impossible to not get without closely following a guide, so that's a bad example.

Housing density is enough that you're going to encounter other kids in your neighborhood within walking distance unlike your sheltered suburban life OP.

Maria is my wife, not Fayt’s

In OG VII's defense (untrue in the Remake) the twist was that they weren't childhood friends and that fact was plot critical. This was just another trope that game turned upside down.

Persona 2

cloud was an incel

>Childhood friend is a girl
>Childhood friend is the antagonist
>Childhood friend is secretly in love with you

Based. Childhood friend is the optimal love interest in fiction

the child hood friend stuff always reminds me of that Zig Forums story about a dude that fell in love with his childhood friend, but later the girl got new friends, became a slut and treated him like crap, even telling him to fuck off, while the user tried so hard to ask her what the fuck happened.
I think he killed himself i dont remmeber, does anyone else know which story im talking about?

No we dont you schizo

But all of Tatsuya's romantic interests are childhood friends. And you can heavily imply Maya loves Tatsuya too so she has a childhood friend romance too
