Can we have a civil discussion about what this will mean for gaming?
30X0
No.
Fuck you.
Fuck Nvidia.
Fuck PC gamers.
Jack shit because they'll still develop with consoles and PC will get shitty ports.
literally nothing ps5 has already won
3090 is basically the Titan and the 3070 is around a 2080ti just like with the 1080ti/2070s and 970/780ti. The prices are still too high now because they never came down after the mining tards fucked it up for everybody.
One Taiwanese boy killed the modern console generation before it was even released.
MAYBE companies will now focus their games on the PC market because consoles are literally dead and not more than just sloppy seconds.
Just imagine being a console manufacturer and your console is already just shit because if you want graphics you have a PC and if you just want the "gameplay" experience you have a phone.
The Price of the 3080 is 699 which isn't bad considering it'll run everything you throw at it at max for 10+ years.
I still think there's room for consoles. I think the big ones are going to look with envious eyes at Nintendo though, who are making a sizable profit per consoles sold by not having bleeding-edge hardware in it. Personally I don't even own a Switch but the profit-per-console for Nintendo must be off the hook considering how little it must cost to manufacture those things.
>144hz now the standard
>4k now the standard
>8k and 360hz in the ballpark
>Consoles still struggle with 30fps
not much honestly, it's gonna take a while for this series to saturate the gaming market
like imagine how long these things are going to be sold out for, it's gonna be a real bitch to get one even without a crypto craze
Retailers are going to have to employ a "1 per customer" thing.
Consoles STILL struggle to get 1080p30. 60fps is still usually with 720p. Games are rarely if ever native 4k. They're only now getting SSDs and they're being treated like fucking magic.
It will mean jack shit until somebody has the balls to develop a game catering exclusively to high end PC's that doesn't involve buying a $1000 peripheral.
All I know is that AMD is gonna dive even harder on their reliance on consoles since there is no possible way Big Navi will outdo the 3070 without being more expensive.
If Big Navi somehow miraculously ends up being $350 or less while being more powerful than 3070, I will destroy my PC and film it.
Means 4k monitors will be the norm soon
Why? Everything under the sun is ported these days with very very few exceptions and with more powerful hardware said ports will look better and run smoother.
Hmmm, so is my 5700 XT garbage now?
Them targeting casual players and kids also helps since those groups like their games to look good but not be the absolute best
I thought those groups were the ones most easily suckered in by shiny things?
I have a 2070S is it still fine for 1440p/144FPS this gen?
All this GPU pricing related shitposting inspired me to make this.
Probably not on AAA all-ultra, no. You'll still be playable on high at 100 fps though.
I was thinking more of the ones who want massive performance who want ultra settings with 144hz but you’re right. Just say 60fps and throw some numbers around and they’ll like it
These will stay under a grand right?
The magic comes from not having an HDD, which PC will never achieve in teh next 10 years, because some people will always have HDD and that means games have to be developed with HDD in mind and thus not getting the full benefit of a top-tier SSD.
The "fight" shouldn't be between consoles and pc but rather SSD vs HDD, because people who still use HDD for anything are cavemen-tier shitbrains.
>3060: better than a 2080 Super - $399
>3050: better than a 2070 Super - $299
>by June/July 2021 we'll get the Super/Ti line with more VRAM and some minor tweaks
Guess I'm waiting a few more months, it's not like I'll be missing out on any new games anyway.
i just got a 2070 super, fuck you nvidia
That's not gonna be how it works though. PCs have had SSDs for 10 years now. Anyone who has bought or upgraded a PC in the past 5 years definitely has one. Any game can have the minimum specs require it to be installed on an SSD. Also HDDs are still fine for storing everything but games and the OS.
In the same way modern devs don't account for a GTX 480, they can simply stop accounting for slow storage and let it run like ass, this is already the case for many MP games and ones with large high resolution textures. HDDs are great for archival storage of music, videos, photos and other things that gain zero benefit from fast speeds but aren't accessed frequently, getting rid of them entirely won't make sense for a long while still. Unless you really want to store a bunch of single digit MB images on a 7gbps SSD because that's definitely not moronic.
t. Have two 2tb NVME SSDs on pcie gen 4, two sata SSDs and a pair of HDDs
Lol
>not doing research
you have yourself to blame.
This, top end cards are worthless since consoles are still being marketed. As long as people are buying consoles, the "realistic" visuals people dream of are never going to happen.
