Is Doom Eternal worth a playtrough? Is it fun?

I Really liked Doom (2016) especially how it handled the story with almost no cutscenes whatsoever

Eternal has cutscenes but unlike 2016's "interactive scenes" you can skip them.
Yeah it's worth a play.

>Is Doom Eternal worth a playtrough? Is it fun?
It's the single best AAA game of the last decade or so, and the most fun I've had in game of this budget since god even knows when. So yeah, it's actually a small miracle of a game. HOWEVER,
>I Really liked Doom (2016) especially how it handled the story with almost no cutscenes whatsoever
That is literally the one and only one area in which Doom Eternal literally goes in an opposite direction than 2016, and basically throws all of that under the bus.
The story and the narrative in general are absolute garbage in Eternal. So much worse than 2016 it's kinda hard to overstate. The story is idiotic, the storytelling is as lazy as humanly possible, it's literally all an absolute afterthought with no cohesion, flow, sense of space or time, or pretense of seriousness.

The entire narrative aspect of the game has been literally gutted out, in favor if barely coherent chain of completely asinine excuses to keep switching up environments and backgrounds for each level. Not a single location feels like a belivable, sensible place either, even the art direction itself, with clear and unapologetic arcade elements, floating platforms, literal flaming chain obstacles and random fireball-spewing walls makes it clear that nothing is supposed to actually make sense.

Instead, they focused literally all of their effort into the game itself. And it is fucking glorious, so much of a step-up from 2016 in terms of polish, ballance, complexity, scale, speed and intricacy it's hard to believe.

But if you care about anything else but pure gameplay, you are not going to like Eternal.

Just start playing it.

>I Really liked Doom (2016)
why

>t's the single best AAA game of the last decade

Nah. Ion Fury and Amid Evil blew it out the water.

It was good until the devs went fucking insane and dropped mick

Nah, it's nothing like Doom 2016. They limited ammo severely, forcing you to use chainsaw every minute. Every enemy has weakspots which are vulnerable only to certain weapons, the problem is that it becomes the only way if dealing with them as normally shooting them is ineffective and eats through your limited ammo supply. Then there are enemies which are literally invurnerable until they decide to do an attack. Enemy projectiles are extremely fast, so you won't be able to last in an open fight, gotta hug walls and hide behind covers.
This isn't ripntear, it's hide and abuse weapon switching like a little faggot. Just replay Doom 2016

But now they have Andrew Hushult doing the music for the DLC.

Those are not AAA games son.

worth buying on a sale

Game forces a specific playstyle, so if this bothers you don't play it. It plays nothing like the original DOOM.

when was the last time he composed something good though

This. I like the concept but when I play Doom I want to shoot things mindlessly.

Yep, its better than 2016.

Nah, fuck exposition Hayden. I prefer RESSSSSSSSSSSSSOLLLLLLLLLLVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE this crisis Hayden.

Projectiles too fast? Just side-step you stupid nig, I never get it.

I had alot of fun with the single player mode. Even mp can be fun unlike 2016

You didn't need to use literally five times in that post

It's a decent shooter worth $10. Get it on sale.

It's definitely worth a playthough. Don't expect Doom 2016 though. In fact don't expect anything Doom like at all.

>Nah. Ion Fury and Amid Evil blew it out the water.
Ignoring that no - neither of those games did, the only shooter that can legitimately compete with Eternal so far is actually Dusk - since when are those games fucking AAA?!

Hayden was based back in 2016. I heard they fucked him over this time, is it true?

eternal is better than 2016 in every possible way
>It's the single best AAA game of the last decade or so
thats prey 2017
>That is literally the one and only one area in which Doom Eternal literally goes in an opposite direction than 2016
and thats a good thing. fuck off with these first person cutscenes that severely hurt replay value because you cant skip them

those are single A games retard.

Nobody outside of the internet has heard about Ion Fury or Dusk

it's not even the best aaa game released this year

Wait for the switch version

Imagine playing fucking Doom Eternal on the console, let alone the fucking switch.

Hes just an exposition guy in eternal but theres hints thats hes going to be the villain in the next games

what hints? absolutely no such thing. if anything eternal affirms hayden as the good guy even in 2016

What's the matter Zig Forums? You DID pistol-start all of plutonia experiment, right?

Attached: 1598420079585.jpg (900x810, 55.06K)

hes obviously the seraphim but the way he words shit makes it seem like hes pulling shit for his own gain, im pretty sure hes just as powerhungry as the khan makyr was, sam is the villain

>Every enemy has weakspots which are vulnerable only to certain weapons,
Most retarded thing I have ever seen on Zig Forums. Lets see how you canntake you mancubus canons
1.sticky bobms
2. Sniper shot
3.Blood punch
4. Rockets
5. Explosions
6.Heat blast
7. normal balista shot
7 fucking ways to destroy them

seraphim is not the bad guy

Zig Forums is shit at video games, how shocking

You sure about that? Check Prophetic Tree on Youtube, there is a good theory Sammy will get corrupted by The Nameless One through Demonic Crucible which is powering Doom Fortress and keeping Sammy stable in stasis.
