Are there any good companions in this game? First one I've stumbled upon is a decrepit old woman that likes to larp as a fighter
Are there any good companions in this game...

I've only used Ifan so far
Bairsdottir and Jahan are most people's go-to
Take the smelly, unwashed huntress from the cage.
Any of these located in the starting town or do I need to venture further out?
Trying to solve the murder and I've ran into a dead end at the mortician
Ifan isn't in the first one, you retard
Ifan is in 2, so yeah you need to venture a bit further out to get him
the other two are in the starting town. Jahan's down at the docks, I think, and Bairsdottir is in the military camp.
All of the companions are in the starting town.
Get exploring.
the rogue isn't
Jahan is in the library. Bairsdottir is in the cage near that cat dudes house. There's also the old woman in the bar and finally, some mute rogue in the sewers. All in the first town.
You can reach him from the town without fighting.
I used Wolgraff and Bairdotr to round out my party.
>Tank (oc)
>Mage (oc)
>Rouge (Wolgraff)
>Ranger (Bairdotr)
was my party for the whole game, they're both found pretty early in the first main area.
Wolgraff is down a well/underground area and Bairdotr is being held in a cage by some guards.
Don't play the sequel, they butchered the gameplay which is the only thing this game does well.
Wasn't he in the well/"grave"?
That counts as in the starting town.
For me, it's the six person party mod with enhanced difficulty, using a balanced team of 2 OCs and the four companions.
lmao
>NOOO NOT THE HECKIN CURSE FIRE NOOOOO
>Don't play the sequel, they butchered the gameplay which is the only thing this game does well.
Funny, since people seem to recommend skipping the first game and going into the sequel straight away, citing it as the superior experience overall.
based
Does that not break the character interactions or does it accept such a huge party?
Most people didn't play the first game and are too dumb to understand why the magic/armour system is terrible compared to the first game.
Both are great. Tonally the games are quite a bit different, so I could see people taking issue with that. 1 is a bit more lighthearted, with more traditional fantasy elements. 2 still has lots of humor, but is much darker overall.
1 lets you go a bit more wild with spells without much blow back.
2 they tried to balance things out a bit more, but It wound up with physical damage being way better. Difficulty spike in the final area is also quite brutal, so if you don't have a well optimized party you will have to do a lot of character rebuilding or drop difficulty to continue. Still alot of fun though, I'd just say run a necromancer instead since they deal physical damage if you are into magic.
Div OS 1 had Resistances where you had % chance to resist debuffs which was tied to a single stats modifier much like Leadership stats
Div OS 2 threw that out and instead had magic armor and physical armor that you needed to shred in order to inflict status resist
Problem in 2 was the higher the difficulty the higher the enemy damage which leads you to getting into the debuff zone within the first round
In 1 it felt more balanced because it wasn't tied to damage and you could still debuff bosses with resistance modifiers
I prefer OS2 even with the brutal damage on high difficulty, because at least its not RNG stuns. I hate RNG stuns.
Aren't they part of the magic of RPGs?
Killing Jahan in second game is a pain in the ass but those 140k xp are worth it
Agree. Combat in 1 was better
You could just pump the resistance stat so you get like 75%+ resistance
I prefer OS2 even with the brutal damage on high difficulty
OS2 on tactical forces you to rely on cheesing fights and relying on burst builds.
It's alright but throws word *tactician* out the fucking window
As someone that just finished his first playthrough of OS1, I can tell you all the people fawning over the combat are retarded. It's NOTHING but CC and gap closers, that's all. I've been playing with a buddy who was new at the game too, not following guides or anything, and still ended with a party that on turn one can CC around 6 guys turn 1. Every combat is like that and if not then it's spreading some pool of poison or oil around then setting it on fire. Or causeing huge patches of ice that trip all enemies 80% of the time. The only problem were demons but by that point we also had a couple instant delete attacks to get rid of those.
>It's alright but throws word *tactician* out the fucking window
t. never figured out how to play without minimaxing
Lonewolf?
No
