Nah, Monty, at least in RWBY had pretty good choreo. But it didn't flow into anything else in the series, their storyboard was literally [Monty Oum Fight scene!!!!] or some shit whenever he was supposed to do something and the plot had to work to fit around that instead of being made concise.
As a result RoosterTeeth killed their fanbase with their slog series and beat the dead horse of RvB for far too long (ceased to be relevant for me after the freelancer shit, and was funny up till the Meta died) to keep the interest of the old fans. Leaving only their deranged tumblr/twitter fanbase, which they of course over time hired as part of the company.
Subsequently, these mentally ill retards began to infect work culture and evict the original veterans who embodied the soul of RT, and twisted the ones they couldn't get rid of.

If RT had somehow kept Monty alive and they didn't fuck up so hard with RWBY, maybe it could've been something.

That's because the only person who had any total creative control was the writer and his co-writer, both of which who made self inserts to date their favorite girls with (Sun and Neptune specifically, written and voiced by them no less)

I think the story totally could have worked because at many places it had potential, but the writers calling it a progressive show where all the main characters are badass chicks, something I was excited for at first, then immediately sidelining everyone for this boring Jaune guy pretty much fucked the whole show onwards and now no one has any real development but him and everyone else feels like they exist just for fights.

It's like they looked at anime for 20 seconds and just kind of took all the wrong messages, like "anime is about fights with cool characters!" or some shit.
