Why is Smash Bros the only franchise that gives a shit about making great character models? Ryu and Ken look better than they do in SFV. Cloud looks way better in Smash than he does in the remake game. Mega Man looks the most authentic in 3D now more so than he ever has before. We have never even gotten a decent Simon Belmont until Smash Bros.

Budget is not all it takes to make good character models. it's all about knowing what you're doing and polishing. Final Fantasy VIII remake had nothing but budget and Cloud in that game looks even more faggy and strays even further away from his iconic OG design.

like terry in xiv legit looks like one of those plastic as fuck highly madeup euro looking fags backing blondie in her music videos, the ones that kind of look like mannequins n shit
although the kof and fexl pictures look a hell of a lot like xnalara output while the smash picture looks like someone trimmed out a screenshot of terry from the game, given how unclean the edges are, making it very suspect
this observation didn't require having seen many photoshops in my time either, it's easy to tell by just the pixels
Apparently KoF XIV does use motion capture which means someone actually modeled for Terry and from the looks of it, the guy was more than likely Japanese which partially explains why Terry is so god damn ugly. even if his face looked good, the colors they used, the jacket/hat, and even the way they did his pony tail are all so fucking ugly.
motion capture could simply mean captured animation data via someone's motions, it doesn't necessarily mean it ca...i mean, the term is motion capture, it just seems so misused because of nintendo and the likes in the 90s

I honestly don't like the Smash Mega Man much.
It's better than his 11 model but Rock had always been pretty expressive in the character art and post-8bit games. I know he's a robot but the complete lack of emotion in his face doesn't suit him, it's a relic of Mega Man 1s limited animation.
I wish they went closer to MvC2s design for him
I think he's too squat, the most iconic design for Rock has him with longer limbs, it's a staple for all the artwork from 4-11. It's usually what gets used in comics, Megamix, crossovers, etc.. as well.
Still, I'm glad to see Rock in Smash at all.

Agreed. I just finished 11 today though and the artstyle grew on me, I really like the design.
11 is a really good-looking game an in general a really great Mega Man title. Rock's model/run cycle are legitimately one of the very few problems it has, the design itself isn't even bad either just the execution.

I think it's because in Smash they actually want to celebrate the games and not the art, so they strike a nice balance and usually focus on getting the animations and details right before anything else.
The Belmont animations are something else, and yes Rock looks more like a homage to the 8bit games than his later portrayals.
Sakurai is a autist for making shit as good and accurate as possible, dude was ready to refuse pac-man if he was forced to use the bad 3d design.

they fucked up by basing smash cloud on dissidia, sorry im gonna be THAT guy. it still gets a pass but eh. but its a lot closer to the spirit of the original character than the remake model.

Pure dedication and a director who cares about the source material. Other games slap in characters and use their most recent designs but sakurai uses the designs fans are most familiar with. Sometimes his team will go out of their way to make a new design that mixes elements from previous versions.
Tifa's Dissidia model looks better than 7R's too.
