Life was good before smartphones let every retard have a voice and a way into communities. I miss old Zig Forums telling newfags to lurk moar and leave until they could actually fit in. I miss communities being hostile to stupid outsiders who didn't belong, I miss gatekeeping being standard.

sure, its mellowed out in recent years i'd say but some people still hold on to the old school NG mentality, a lot of the animations in the OP collab are clearly inspired by the mid-late 00's NG stuff. its just a small but passionate community continuing to make content on a still slightly convoluted and daunting site to use which is why it's never seemed to crack the ceiling and be as active as Youtube or tumblr in its heyday.
