are people okay not owning their games anymore?
Xbox shills think a game rental service is a good thing and losing your rights is fine
>are people okay not owning their games anymore?
Yes.
It happened with TV and movies.
It happened with music.
It will now happen to games.
Truth is, most people care about convenience more than ownership.
It sucks but it is what it is.
i blame FIFA deanos desu, if we had stopped them at lootboxes they wouldn't have dared try this
People are tired of spending 60 dollars on incomplete games
Nope, not me at least, but whatever, there are far more important things than games though, si I'm losing interest anyways.
Haven't owned our games since console patches were a thing man
ugly
God shes so pretty
yes because we're adults that realize entertainment like this is fleeting. I'm not about to be 40/50/60 years old with hundreds of physical copies stacked in my 1 bedroom apartment.
Then buy the game. You can still do it, faggits.
I see it more of a return to game rentals.
>don't want to pay full price for all games but want to play more
>pay for gamepass, etc. To get access for a flat fee per month
When Blockbuster was still around I used to rent once a week, so that was $7 per week and 4 times a month.
That's $28 a month to rent 4 games, vs $15 for gamepass/EA and I'd still have room to consider Ubishit's service as well.
Seems like a good deal to me.
You crossed the line, pal.
>Then buy the game. You can still do it, faggits.
Maybe. More and more games are having digital-only releases.
But it's more than that.
Physical media dying out affects more than ownership. It also discourages companies from releasing high-quality physical media.
When was the last time you saw a soulful vidya manual?
it's literally like that blockbuster shit, you rent it for some time and then you return it.
>either play a game, beat it then never play it again
>or completely drop it and never play it again
80 dollars well spent!
>When was the last time you saw a soulful vidya manual?
When I bought Hollow Knight for the Switch, along with Salt & Sanctuary
no it isn't
the blockbuster rental business plan is distributing the cost over multiple consumers and creating savings by trading long term ownership for sharing the same physical media
the game pass business plan is the subsidization of massive consumption of low quality software now in return for the customers ensured future slavery (Netflix has been shit for years and how many people do you know who actually cancel it) in the future when Microsoft inevitably raises the price by ten times and bans all software from containing ableist skill based gameplay and all the games will adjust and have tons of microtrnasactions because the institutionalized game pass customer base will accept it, because 'the games are free' once they have accepted slavery to Microsoft as a just part of life
It's a vastly cheaper version of video game rentals. This is nothing new.
You never owned them in the first place.
You had a physical license to use the software on disc that you thought you owned because you could resell or share it.
>gamepass is on sale for $1 literally 24/7
You jaded retards just love to complain
gib cripple chink waifu
>You never owned them in the first place.
Moving the goalpost.
Legally, there may have still have been EULA bullshit, but practically speaking, you own it more than streaming or subscription models.
>can share
>can sell
>can copy
>doesn't require internet
It doesn't matter if "technically you never owned it," which I don't even believe is even legally true. But even if it was, it doesn't change the fact that physical media offers options that subscriptions don't.
1 dollar for the first month you nimrod
>When was the last time you saw a soulful vidya manual?
In like 2003 or 2004, before digital distribution of games even existed. Vidya manuals have been shitty nothingburger inserts for a long time and it had nothing to do with digital distribution but everything to do with people not reading them and publishers not wanting to waste money on it when they could just make in-game tutorials for everything anyway.
I know. How else am I supposed to show off my massive game collection on Reddit without physical copies
It has nothing to do with rentals besides the most surface details. Rentals are a business facilitating the fact that you only want to watch Master & Commander once and phsyical media is interchangeable; someone else will want to rent it next weekend. So they make a system that cheapened the price of watching home movies by sharing the price over multiple people. Keep in mind that when Blockbuster started VHSs were actually pretty expensive.
Game Pass, and the other versions like PS NOW, leverage the wealth of Microsoft and the routine nature of people. Like VHSs games can be expensive, but with Gamepass you aren't creating the savings by sharing with other people, because in the digital market you aren't sharing the rental. The savings comes from the future. Microsoft is betting that the retards they lure in now will be permanently enslaved to their Nazi Communist system in which Microsoft controls all game development and bans all games that aren't movie shit like Gears of War or filled with microtransactions like FIFA. The savings are Microsoft biting loss leveraged against their future profits. You are profiting off of your future self and the future as a whole. It is the most absolute and clear example of evil, and for what? to play Halo for a few dollars cheaper?
Anyone who pays for Game Pass, or PS NOW or Netflix or whatever, should immediately reevaluate their lives.
Who is this chick? I see her being posted all the time.
@duebass
A lot of people see the Netflix and Hulu is the way games will go too. I hope it doesn't.
Cute girl, would pat head out of ten.]/spoiler]
Thanks senpai
No one gives a shit about manuals. It's not in a company's interest to spend the money to produce them.
Collector's editions are inflated on price and retards buy those so manufacturers get the best of both worlds--people who just want the game and retards who buy expensive collector's editions.
Absolutely fucking retarded post
First of all gamepass is nothing like psnow which is a trash service alll around
Secpnd of all games like gears tactics would never get greenlit if it wasnt for gamepass
Congratulations youve shat yourself
>manual
Dont know. Maybe Sonic Mania, or a GTA or RDR.
Holy shit! Is it really 8% in the UK? What's the accrual rate for a savings account there? Not trolling, just curious.
Found a printed sheet a few months back with all my CD keys for the games I bought years ago. I want to go back.
