>earthbound clone
It's more like an FF5 clone but sure.
Brigandine PS1 Brigandine Nintendo Switch
Looks soulless.
dont see nearly enough love for this trilogy of masterpieces.
yeah....... no
I disagree, it was an incredibly soulful game. Felt like the creator really loved JRPG's and that lead to him making a really challenging and fun game filled with unique areas, a nice story, good humor, good horror, fun boss fights and tons of variety in gameplay builds
is this OFF?
What point are you making with this? Still an excellent game.
It's Jimmy and the pulsating mass, a full-length jrpg that got overshadowed cuz it was RPGmaker, has an earthbound like artstyle when everyone was trying to make earthbound like games, and it was too hard for a lot of players
i see. ill put it on my backlog but i really dont like turn based combat
I wouldn't recommend it then since it's designed for hardcore JRPG players. It's like a love letter to the genre on top of having a nice narrative about existential dread.
an incredibly underrated game that somehow flew over a fuckton of people's radar, how did it never take off, it really had everything going for it
The gameplay was pants-on-head retarded. It's literally a bad idea to kill enemies in battle. You have to keep as many weakened enemies alive as long as possible. It's stupid. I couldn't get past that, though I loved the art and the concept.
I can't even post it, because no examples of it exist on the internet. It was a Windows 95 RPG called Haven. I can only guess it was made by the guy who I bought the computer from, because it straight up does not have any acknowledgement of having ever existed on the internet.
It was a fantastic dungeon crawler inspired by D&D where you move through a maze, fighting monsters in every room, leveling up, collecting gold and five types of gems, seeking out five colored dragons, and then escape the labyrinth by fighting Tiamat the five-headed dragon queen. Undead monsters would drop your level, and one particular one (I think it was just called a Reaper) would attack you if you kept moving through rooms you've already cleared.
This game simply does not exist to the wider world of man, but I will always remember it from my earlier days.
>What point are you making with this?
that it's an earthbound clone, not FF5
creator basically cums whenever earthbound/mother 3 comparisons are made
RPGmaker games just never sell. It's a way too oversaturated market. If the developer made it in a non-meme engine it'd probably have 10x the amount of sales, but still under 100k because it's designed for people with critical thinking skills
Also a lot of retards would hate the ending
So? That doesn't change the fact that the core gameplay system, story progression and gameplay progression is more similar to FF5 than it is earthbound/mother
Why are these motherfuckering game dev so afraid of time hits.
I'd say it's equally similar, Jimmy has a mix of a lot of JRPG things. It definitely has more of a focus on status effects and class variety than earthbound does, but it also has more linearity and more party members in general compared to FF5. It's honestly more like persona x ff5 because you can change forms on the fly on top of being able to make your normal form contain the traits of the other forms
How would you make timed hits for all 100 or so attacks/moves in jimmy
Jimmy is like FF5 while everyone else is more like FF4, where they have set roles.
gameplay was ok, music was aight, writing and a few aesthetic choices due to the writing were a fucking garbage fire and brought everything else down
>writing and a few aesthetic choices due to the writing were a fucking garbage fire and brought everything else down
like what
Slenderman Must Die
>Genuinely atmospheric as fuck for a bit
>Gunplay is really good
>Made the wrong choice in the first game?
>The hero dies in the third game!
I still liked it though.
holy shit, never thought I would see Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass on Zig Forums.
Here's my contribution to the thread. Fantasy Zone deserves more love.
based
this looks like edgy shit.
