Zig Forums will defend a game rental service and the killing of game ownership
yes, yes it will
basically every game i have played on gamepass i never would have played otherwise
Based. Fuck everyone who simps for a corporation and defends anti-consumer practices.
I'm being dead serious when I ask this. I've been on PC ever since the start of the PS4 v. Xbone thing. Does anyone actually own their games or are the discs now basically used to confirm and download the games? I ask this about both the Xbone and PS4.
We used to go to the store and rent games. Somehow, it didnt kill the industry then.
Imagine playing games more than once
Every game on gamepass you can also buy individually. Gamepass is also not a requirement to use xbox.
No one's forcing you to use it, jackass.
>and the killing of game ownership
Spare me your drama. Do you realize that you've never actually "owned" anything in your life? Everything you buy is on a license of some form. The house you buy requires loans and/or taxes. You need to pay bills for electricity & water. You need a license for a car. In Europe, you need a license for a TV. For fuck's sake, your own body runs on a time limit since human beings don't live forever. Once that body expires, whether it be from old age, disease, murder, or accidents, that's it. Your rental on breathing is over. Have a nice afterlife.
That be said, games are no different. When you buy a disc, you're prolonging the inevitable when that disc stops working from wear and tear. Lacquer eventually melts completely from heat and exposure. Cartridges don't last forever either. Thus, you shouldn't be angry at a digital subscription service, because it operates on the same qualities as life itself. If you're angry at it, it means you're angry at yourself. Think hard about that.
The discs contain the game files which get copied onto the console's hard drive. It's like installing games on PC, you put in the CD/DVD/floppy and it installs to your hard drive. From there the disc acts as a physical DRM key.
don't like it don't subscribe to it.
the same was said about music subscriptions
>Netflix killed DVD
>Spotify killed CDs
>GamePass killed Physical Games
Oh wait....
I've yet to see a single criticism of Game Pass that isn't just "sky is falling" predictions that don't make any sense; Netflix and Spotify are massive and you can still buy Blu-Rays and CDs.
How does Zig Forums reconcile "Xbox is going to flop" with "Game Pass is going to take over the world and end physical ownership"?
Gamepass is pro-consumer as fuck
I couldn't spend money on these subscriptions, I just feel I don't have enough time to play or watch and it's always easier to download it elsewhere or wait for its price to drop.
>Zig Forums is one person
>OP finds the task of making alternate accounts to continue having to pay only $1 per month of several amazing games too difficult
am I alone in just not giving a fuck? If I can play the game for cheap, I truly don't care if I "own" it or not. I only like a handful of games every few years that I really want to own so I'll buy them out right so I have them forever. though 90% of the games I play I drop when I'm finished with them with zero intentions to go back.
Gotcha. Thanks.
>not knowing that 30% of every post are all mine
Only the usual Cuckbox shills that infest this place at around this time.
>$180 for a year's worth of Gamepads
>No ownership whatsoever
>Games can be and are taken down from Gamepass
>"Pro-consumer"
Literally this. And the ones I truly love I can buy at a discount when they leave the service. Also, what OP fails to realize is that it's an option. You can still buy those games. But it's Zig Forums so I guess we have to pretend to be stupid and mad about everything.
Not to mention these subscriptions won't have all the games, movies, music, or shows you want to play or watch and they're not there forever.
Why do you hate Blockbuster?
B-b-but what about your shelves?
not even 30 posts in and sonykeks are already at full damage control
You can still buy the games you know? Game pass is for people who want to try games they never would've bought for full price.
Would you rather try and spend that $180 to buy the games you want?
Also have to factor in the time you have to play.
I'd stick with Gold if I had a few years of redeeming Games With Gold.
>the price of 3 games at retail
Sounds like a good deal to me
120 bucks a year for now. It will go up in price. All that MS talent used to sell low budget trash to push Gamepass. You deserve it honestly.
>$180 for a year's worth of Gamepads
Pretty reasonable for the value you're getting. Also you can buy in bulk to cheapen the price.
>No ownership whatsoever
Who cares?
>Games can be and are taken down from Gamepass
Again who cares? How often do you actually replay games? Also there's discounts on gamepass games if you really want to keep it after it's gone.
>"Pro-consumer"
yes
I do not care if you are right or wrong, but why the fuck is this image only posted by smug fucking faggots like you. I genuinely fucking hate the way you type and for some reason anyone who posts that image types the same way.
yes, an I encourage Sony to copy it (pretty sure they will)
kys zoomer
PSNow is pretty garbage so they're doing a bad job so far
This is what publishers want to kill.
>Zig Forums hates gamepass all of a sudden
Why? Did I miss something?
Weren't a number of games made more difficult just to keep people renting them so they don't beat them with one rental?
>Try out game on game pass you would have never bought before
>Like it
>Game pass offers a discount on ALL GAMES/DLC on the service
>Buy said game you enjoyed
>WAHHHHHHH I DON'T OWN THE GAME
Kill yourself retarded manchild.
Physical renting was $5-10 a week, per game, when I was a kid. $200 a year for anything you want on the service is chump change. I still prefer buying games anyways, but you're being dumb.
Fuck off shill rat
Wow, hundred games for the cost of two normally priced games spread out over a whole year. The cost of buying lunch for a day spread over a month. And if it goes up much more guess what? I'll fucking unsubscribe. And "I deserve it?" The fuck does that even mean? Take your meds you godamn asspie.
Most games these days aren't worth playing more than once. I already have my pre-gen 7 retro collection for "ownership". True game ownership died once day one patches and firmware updates became a thing. These days, I just want the cheapest option available when playing these half assed, unfinished games. Piracy is still king, but gamepass is second best.
>$16 to rent two games for five days
>one copy left
>its scratched to shit
Ah, the good old days
I dont see why a dev/publisher would do that. They only get money from the initial purchase by the store, not every rental afterwards.
I'm an idort and I don't usually get into the console war bullshit, but it really does seem like Sony fans know they're getting an inferior product and they're finding any reason to lash out.
This was more of a thing because of arcades, not rentals. Gotta keep those quarters flowing.
You deserve the quality you pay for. Just like McDonald's. Just like a 5 star restaurant. Get a better job marketer.
It's glorious right? It's going to be even better when Sony finally gets the gall to drop the price and release date for the PS5 and PS5 DE. I honestly expected them to come out and drop the information by now since Xbox is already out of the gate.
You can complain about Gamepass later when it gets really shitty, now is the golden age of it because MS really wants people to buy into it.
Does game pass prevent you from owning games?
I always heard it was why Aladdin and The Lion King were so difficult.
last physical game I bought was skyrim in 2011. it has had zero negatives and nothing but positives
> + don't have to keep up with physical shit taking up room
> + when I have girls over in college, they had no idea was a game freak because of no collection
> + oh I want to play a game that I don't have installed? well good thing I'm not a dumb fuck and I can think up to 8 hours ahead and install the game before I go to sleep or go to work
> - b-but you can't lend it to friends! who's still trading games these days? I'm 29 and I've never heard of anyone doing this. everyone buys and plays their own shit. it was like that when I was in high school before digital was everything. this trading culture is boomers and gen x only. I'm saying unironically.
digital chad is the way to be
There's nothing wrong with game rentals and it's nothing new. It didn't kill game ownership in the past either. In fact, Gamepass brings back the old practice of "if you like what you're watching/playing, you can keep it at a discounted price". It's cool all around.
I guess it could have possibly led people to buy the game rather than keep on renting.
Oh so you're saying the games on the service are hindered in some way? Because so far the ones I've played are the same as their $60 counterparts. No difference in quality. The rest of your post makes even less sense. Meds. Take them.
Poorfags often end up renting to the point they could've used that money to buy the game. It's why they're poor, they spend impulsively instead of saving up or investing.
>quality you pay for
But they don't make games just for Gamepass, I saw this fucking retarded bullshit opinion when the shitty new Battletoads came out as if the reason that game was shit was because they "made it" for Gamepass. They also put out the Ori sequel day 1 on gamepass, they also put out Spiritfarer day 1 on gamepass, they also put out Outer Wilds day 1 on gamepass.....shit isn't "made" for gamepass they just pay to have it on the service and devs agree because it's guaranteed revenue.
In b4
>Uhhh XD those games you mentioned are all shit
The vast majority of people who played them disagree so whether some faggot on Zig Forums with picky tastes does or not doesn't matter. My point is that games people like are being put out on Gamepass at launch and this isn't Netflix where they just make dogshit to inflate the service.
I think the point was to make you have to buy it, not rent it perpetually. They wanted it to be cheaper to buy the game and beat it then renting over and over again. Clearly they didnt understand being poor, because I spent way beyond retail price renting some games.
the devs admitted to this and confirmed it
This. Also Microsoft Rewards pays or gamepass ultimate if you take 2-4 minutes a day to do the quests, searches and sets. I havent paid for gamepass in months. I love my xbox.
Sony literally has NOTHING to offer me to switch over. NOTHING
Damn so play it on GamePass, if you like it, you can be it for cheap and play off your old save. That’s IF you don’t beat it before it goes off of GamePass. I swear Zig Forums niggers get more retarded every single year
I've used Rewards for years before I got an XBOX. I've only paid $5 for nearly three years of Gold and a year and a half for Game Pass. Plus tons in gift cards.
