Diabetes medication is "free" in my country and is given every month to diabetes patients as long as they pay for the national healthcare insurance, which is roughly $3 every month.
So it's pretty fucking insane to see it costing that much in the US.
Could probably make a good amount of money if people here smuggled those things to the US.

The problem is that manufacturers jack up the normal market price of medications to force insurers to pay out the ass for things. Same thing for medical treatment.

You guys are thinking type 2 diabetes. This woman has type 1. Type 1 diabetes is from your pancreas failing so you can no longer produce your own insulin. If it happens then it happens. It's something you can't predict and can only treat with insulin injections. Type 2 diabetes is a result of insulin not being able to reach the places it needs to go on account of an overabundance of fat cells.

Obamacare was (sort of still is, though gutted) a piece of legislation that forced everyone to get health insurance, and forced health insurers to accept everyone.
Of course this naturally forced higher prices on everyone who was currently insured and thus was very unpopular among lower-middle class people who had health insurance and were most drastically affected by the higher prices. It was also unpopular among the lower class working people who did not have health insurance and then were forced to purchase it.
