Why is it called "The Legend of Zelda" if Zelda is not the protagonist?

Before you say "saving her is the objective", is it Super Mario or Super Peach?
Discuss.

Link is the hero who dies, Zelda is the princess who passes down the legend

Then it's the legend of Link, being passed down by Zelda.

the legend of link sounds retarded.

Enjoy your "Vibe Wand". Your mommy has one as well.

Because all Link does is serve Zelda. By default, his acts fall under her name. The same reason why war in Afghanistan was “Bush’s war”.

Adventure of Link though

Because the OG game was about the legend of princess Zelda and the broken triforce, they just kept using it for consistency. You wouldn't change Mario 3's name to "Lucky Leaf Coon ventures"

That's the dumbest reason ever

>Super Peach
that's a shit analogy, a proper one would be "Legend of Peach" since that's more indicative of an objective

also OP is a turbofaggot for bringing this topic for the nth time

hemad

Welp

The full title is the legend of Zelda and the man who saves her.

Zelda is the magical one so the legend is about her. Youre just playing a character in her story

Because it's the name of the game you fucking loser.

Who the fuck pays for a pass and posts shit like this?

what RPGs are named after the protagonist? it's the minority.

Because in most games, Link is an unknown or unsung hero and, since the player names them, isn't always called "Link"

Most iterations of the 'Link' you play as is never remembered as 'Link'
Either the Hero of Courage, Boy in Green, Hero of Twilight, etc.

The name Zelda was passed down by lineage in the Hyrule royal family, and it makes sense that -if anyone were to retell the legend- they would refer to it as The Legend of Zelda, not The Legend of Guy Whose Name We Don't Know.

You fucking dumbass pass user.

Why is it called Metroid if the metroid is not the protagonist?
Why is it called Halo if the halo is not the protagonist?
Why is it called Resident Evil if the resident evil is not the protagonist?

Fuck off with your nameplate faggot
And anime

Because she passed on the story.
Homer's Odyssey doesn't have Homer in it but he passed on the story.

>Why isn't it called Super Samus?
>Why isn't it called Super Master Chief?
>Why isn't it called Super Cloud Strife?
>Why isn't it called Super Captain Falcon?
>Why isn't it called Super Chosen Undead?
What are you? A fucking retard?

>Why isn't it called Super Cuck Zig Forums Pass User?

Sure but most games are not formatted like "The Legend of Halo". If it was, you'd think the halo is the protagonist.
"The Legend of Zelda" is not semantically the same as "Zelda's Legend".
Just admit that "The Legend of Zelda" suggests that Zelda is the legendary hero, when in reality it's Link. Or would it be acceptable if Super Mario was named "The Tale of Peach"?

>Sure but most games are not formatted like "The Legend of Halo". If it was, you'd think the halo is the protagonist
No. No I wouldn't.
Who would? Just because your dumbass brain does, doesn't mean anyone else's would.

the legend of zelda is fine you fucking autistic retard

>"The Legend of Zelda" is not semantically the same as "Zelda's Legend".
>Just admit that "The Legend of Zelda" suggests that Zelda is the legendary hero
No it doesn't in the slightest.

It is amazing how this board will blindly defend Nintendo no matter what, including their questionable naming choices. You can't even admit "Legend of Zelda" is weird if the game has nothing to do with her.
>inb4 BUT SONY...

Please get a personality.

The fact that you think a title starting in "The Legend of" must end with the name of the protagonist is just the result of your own mental deficiency. There is no such rule about the titling of legends.

Also,
>paying to shitpost

Because Zelda is the central figure in the story, the games almost always revolve around rescuing her.

Miyamoto named the series after a singer he was a fan of at the time and thought the name Zelda sounded cool. That's LITERALLY it.

The Hyrule Fantasy was a way cooler name. Fuck you if you disagree.
>B-but Termina!
>B-but Koholint!
>B-but but but!
Who gives a shit? Games like Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land exist, so it's not that big a deal.

The main conflict has always been between Zelda & Ganondorf. Zelda is the one who guides Link in every game, otherwise he would have never succeeded on his quests. Zelda is the protagonist of the series, Link is simply her errand boy that protects her from Ganon. Botw established this since the story solely revolved around Zelda & Link’s only duty was protecting her
