First time playing. For some reason I'm enjoying this game more than DMC3, but I can't put my finger on why. I'm on Chapter 4 now.
Devil May Cry
The first game has a certain balance that all the other games lack.
The other games improved on the core gameplay somewhat by giving you more combat options but I would say that every other element was better in the first game.
1's clunky as shit. Everyone only likes it because Air Raid breaks it.
>First time playing.
I have a feeling you're full of shit.
Because you enjoy fighting and not juggling the same punch bag for like 30 seconds straight? DMD in DMC3 is a fucking chore whereas in DMC1 it was fucking amazing.
I have been feeling the same way OP but the game seems to be getting shittier as it goes on.
It retains more horror and adventure elements, since it was a spin off from RE4. It felt like Action Resident Evil. I also prefer the simpler combo system rather than the complex combo autism of sequels.
>1's clunky as shit.
Can't cancel everything =/= clunky
>Air Raid
not even best move in the game but okay
DMC3 zoomers don't know the joy of fighting actually fun enemies.
The enemies in the first game were more interesting then later ones. The puppets were so goddamn neat.
>muh clunky
I would rather play DMC1 than any of the sequels. I like exploring a big location, and am fine with simple controls and attacks. Action games get so far up their own ass with complex combat they turn a lot of people off. Also, 1 has simpler combo system, while also having more aggressive enemies that are harder to stunlock. So they're not just combo dummies to show off, but rather real enemies. It requires a faster combat system of quick attacks followed by dodging. 1's enemies tend to hit harder and dante feels more fragile.
To the point where 4 stole all of them.
Why? I played DMC3 once way back but didn't finish it, didn't have too much of a taste for action games. Picked it up again on Switch because of Freestyle mode and it was on sale. Finished it and trying DMC1 now which was also on sale.
And gave them DMC3 era damage sponginess. Like how DMC5 brought back Sin Scissors and made it impossible to one shot them with a critical.
>I'm enjoying this game more than DMC3,
Because you're a pretentious hipster desperately trying to fit in, user :-)
Maybe beaucse 3 is shit and the only good DMC is 5
>DMD in DMC3 is a fucking chore whereas in DMC1 it was fucking amazing.
Because enemie in DMC1 on Dante Must Die mode had less health than they did on Hard mode unless they Devil Trigger. This is why things like one shotting Sargassos with a close up shotgun blast are a thing instead of two shotting them which is the only reason Mission 3 where you have to beat the Sargassos underwater and beat Phantom in under 3 minutes to get the S Rank and Special Bonus is possible. Kamiya forgot how to make games after this desu.
It has actual atmosphere and pacing unlike 3’s endless grey rooms and endless piss-easy fights with brainless toothless enemies. It’s almost like a proper beat em up like Ninja Gaiden.
this guy 100% likes to pretend he can parry everything in DMC3 with RG
Why lie? You even get different animations for one shotting sin scissors with Nero and V
Is 'Air Raid is OP' the filter opinion of DMC1
DMC5 also brought back Nobodies and made them cooler.
Nightmare is the best boss in the entire series.
lmao
Nightmare is way better in 5 than 1. Fight me.
Good taste. This game has the best pacing in the series, even with the genre shifts.
DMC1 had the best mob combat, DMC3 had the best boss fights.
The game strongly implies that the last nightmare fight is supposed to be a fight against Trish. The cutscenes are all about Trish vs. Dante and she uses lightning powers on him. I guess they didn't have the time to finish her as a boss fight.
I didn't realize this was such a contentious opinion. I haven't got far enough in to confirm that it's the better game, but Alastor just feels more weighty and satisfying. Also in DMC3 I was kinda burned by the enemies near the end like the spiders who don't flinch and the rotating angel dudes who go through walls, plus the awful Arkham boss fight. 3 is still a great game though
>Also in DMC3 I was kinda burned by the enemies near the end like the spiders who don't flinch
Arachane were the best enemies in the game but/because they weren't combo fodder so of course the DMC3 community hates them desu. Not an attack on you user but it's a common opinion.
Final Nightmare fight is pretty kino
Lots of DMC3 enemies aren’t combo fodder. DMC5 has the most combo fodder enemies by far.
You mean 4
